Today we’d like to introduce you to Silent Fox.
Hi Silent, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Growing up, I was in love with drawing. I would draw my favorite cartoons and doodling on the side of my notebook. I especially enjoyed drawing with my siblings after school and on weekends. Over the years I continued to create but never really considered myself an artist. My senior of high school is when my family really recommended I go to school for art or become a tattoo artist. I began my art journey going to match and received my Associate degree in fine art. After I continue my degree at Augsburg University. There, I double majored and receive a bachelor’s degree and visual arts and graphic design. As I left college life I worked for a couple years at the Mia as a security guard and scarf shop. Currently I collaborate with an amazing artist on a mural collective (creatives after curfew), involved / part of 2 collectives: PF.studios and 13.4 collective., and also do freelances. I wear many hates in the file of art and design but I love it!!!!!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I will admit it was definitely not a smooth road. I have faced obstacles and challenges one can only imagine. In doing so I love to focus on my achievements and how far I have come instead of looking at where I was at.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a graphic designer and visual artist from Minnesota, I created the name Silent Fox in 2016 to identify with myself artwork. The name ‘Silent Fox’ comes from my belief that silence allows one to reflect on today’s world and creates a journey to discover meaning in life. Upon viewing my artwork you may notice that I use a variety of media, including watercolor, acrylic, digital illustration, and so forth, causing my art work to be constantly evolving.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I feel the best about our city is the art access. There are many opposites and ways to grow as an artist. I live in NE Minneapolis and I enjoy the neighborhood. It’s the perfect place to walk and you are close by everything. I feel the one thinking I dislike about the how closed off people can be. If you aren’t as lucky as I was, I feel like it’s hard to connect with people in the city. everyone already has a group, hobbies, etc… That is one thing I would change but other than that I love the city.
