Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Alsup.
Hi Lauren, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
A social butterfly and restless entrepreneur is the nature I was born into and the environment I’ve grown into throughout my life. I was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and growing up trying to figure out if I wanted to be CJ Cregg or Lindsey Vonn I’ve managed to become a bit of both.
I tick via social interactions and building. Building brands, building connections, building communication, relationships – you name it. You need something built – that’s challenge I like.
I started my career in the hospitality world in Chicago, I loved it – it was thrilling, different, long hours and exhausting. Just when I thought I couldn’t get more exhausted I switched into technology startups in both Chicago and Dallas. Both industries were hard work but my constant itch to build more, build better and build smarter kept me going. Back in Minneapolis, I now own Neat Method Minnesota, a luxury organization company.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I graduated college in in the midst of the last big recession so to say the road has been smooth, no way! But starting adulthood with that challenge, give me more gusto and motivation to make all my endeavors work. I think the biggest challenge I’ve had revolve around working for a long time in a primarily male dominated industry – technology. Chopping it up in the boys club before technology was “cool” allowed for me to form some amazing relationships with now industry leaders.
As you know, we’re big fans of Neat Method Minnesota . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Neat Method is a full service luxury organizing company located in 100+ markets in the US & Canada, I own and run the Minnesota market. We specialize in reducing physical and mental clutter for clients. I’ve built the company from 0 clients to hundreds in a little under 5 years. My team of 6 and I serve clients all over the state to build beautiful spaces for everyday living. We work with any space in our clients home from garages to pantries to playrooms. From homes spanning 3,000 – 15,000sq ft. we’ve covered it all. Our overall goal is to provide both physical and emotional peace.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was the queen of independence and “I can do” was a common phrase I told my parents. I was (and still am) very creative. From coloring and building legos with my Dad to planning parties as an adult. I have two younger brothers so I fancied myself the wiser big sister. We were an active family, always involved in sports and especially down hill skiing – which I’ve been doing since I was 3.
