Today we’d like to introduce you to Rochelle Muellenberg.
Hi Rochelle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In 2013, I began photographing weddings and engagements in Minneapolis. For eight years, my husband, Tom, and I photographed over 100 beautiful couples as a husband and wife photography team. During that time, our family grew to now include our four young children. Becoming a mom made me realize how much I valued the photos of my children. We officially photographed our last wedding in 2021 and I continue to photograph maternity, newborn and family sessions.
Because I know first-hand how fleeting the years are with young children, I strive to capture each family in a way that will tell their story for years to come. My favorite thing to photograph is my First Year Collective, which follows a family through their baby’s first year milestones in multiple sessions.
I serve families by providing a full-service experience, from wardrobe and styling, to professional hair and makeup for mom, all the way through to the final step of helping them display their photos in their homes.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest challenge has been Covid in 2020 when we were about to head into a busy wedding season. All events were postponed and suddenly the calendar was completely empty. Because of this, it led me to pivot my business and really hone in on the client experience I wanted to give each family I worked with. While it was challenging to reschedule weddings (sometimes 2-3 times) and navigate a whole new world of event protocol, I am grateful for the ‘pause’ that allowed me to really think about how I wanted my business to look when life returned to a more normal pattern. It was during this time that the shift from wedding photography to family photography really took hold and I made some big changes to my business.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Rochelle Louise Photography?
I specialize in giving busy families a stress-free experience from start to finish. I capture meaningful, true moments of families, young and old.
My sessions include the use of a client wardrobe for mamas and young children. Moms enjoy professional hair and makeup before their sessions to help them look and feel their best. During the session, I let children play and laugh with their parents to encourage those authentic moments that capture emotion and their personalities.
Many families come to me because they don’t know what to do or don’t have the time to do it themselves. I find that most of my clients invest in wall art mainly because I help with the complicated design aspect, but the best part is I actually install that art for them, as well. I also love creating heirloom albums that families can flip through and pass down to their children.
I take care of all the details because their time is too valuable for DIY’ing how they preserve those precious memories.
What makes you happy?
My family and faith are the cornerstones of joy in my life. I love seeing my kids learn something new and how their faces light up. I am a voracious reader and am usually reading three books at a time (on rotation) and hope to pass a love of learning onto my kids.
