Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Roehrick.
Matt, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Born and raised in Faribault. I was turned on by cars and motorcycles at a young age.. about 5-6. My father was a big inspiration that contributed to me opening my own shop and doing custom paint work. I’m self taught and believe if I do I’m doing it once and I’m doing it right the first time. I’ve been in Faribault in business for about 20 yrs and my work has taken me many places and has won many awards through out the yrs. I grew up in an artistic family so that’s where my custom paint skills come into play. I enjoy taking people’s ideas and making them a reality. Makes me happy that my skill set can make other people smile. It’s been a journey growing and teaching myself new things and skills along the way and I’m very grateful for the friendships and customers I have acquired over the years it’s them who have kept me in business and pushed me further to succeed with new challenges in paint work bodywork and metal work.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In the beginning, it was a little rough making a name for myself. I was working long hours taking work in that I didn’t really want to but I knew I had to make it work to get where I’ve wanted to be. There are always obstacles running a business that’s a never ending relationship in this world but overcoming them and still meeting expectations is how I for see it and the future. I say it would be a good business if there were no obstacles to overcome. Rather it be learning a new skill or a better way to make things work smoothly.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My day to day work load is of that of a normal auto body repair facility. I specialize in custom one off paint jobs from mild to wild. I also do pin striping and hand lettering in enamel and urethane. I can do graphics and design as well.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Keep your head on the goal not the money. If success is in your future the money will follow and build that goal. Your work if quality not quantity will speak volumes.
