Today we’d like to introduce you to Paulina Sierra-Lopez.
Hi Paulina, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In the early years of my childhood, my family and I lived in the Southern part of Texas also known as “The Valley”. Being so close to the border of Mexico it was very common to find Mexican treats at your local flee markets, convenience stores and gas stations. The dulces enchilados are a very popular treat among the Mexican community. As a child, every time we had a family outing, I would always ask my parents to get me some dulces enchilados since they are my favorite. Later in life, my family and I moved to Minnesota, and It was very difficult to find my favorite candies on the shelves.
As we would travel back to Texas to visit family during school breaks, I would stock up on all my favorite candies and bring them back home with me. As I got older and started my own family I would rarely travel to Texas and that’s when I decided to start making my own dulces enchilados. When I first started making my own version of dulces enchilados, I started selling to close friends and family. The word got around fast about how delicious my treats are that friends and family suggested that I sell them to people online. I opened my business page in June of 2020 with the hope of sharing the deliciousness. Which now has become so much bigger than I imagined all thanks to our amazing customers.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Some obstacles and challenges I faced along the way of starting my small business was that I started my venture during a global pandemic. It was a struggle at first trying to reach more audiences due to people being worried about being exposed to Covid-19. Eventually I started offering services such as contactless delivery, local pick-up, and shipping. As restrictions started getting lifted in Minnesota, we started participating in local events which gave us the opportunity to interact with customers directly.

EnchiladosMN is a local online based candy store which specializes in making the perfect combination of sweet, sour, and spicy candies. Our candies are infused with authentic Mexican spices covered in our homemade chamoy sauce. We take pride in quality, making sure that every order is made with the freshest ingredients. Our focus is to give our customers the best experience, starting from the ordering process all the way until they receive their goodies.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I was always surrounded by friends and family. I enjoyed playing sports, listening to music, and watching my favorite novelas (Mexican soap operas) with my parents. I’ve always been that person with a smile on my face and a cheerful personality.
