Hi Olivia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi! I am a fashion designer based in Minneapolis. Whether it be putting outfits together, fashion illustration, or revamping old pieces of clothing, I have always had an interest in fashion!
If you had asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would say anything outside of working a traditional 9-5. I have big dreams and am thankful that God called me to pursue them as an adult.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I am a fairly optimistic person, but the struggle is real when it comes to doubting my capability to be a clothing brand owner. I used to think that the hardest battle would be physical, but it’s definitely all mental.
I believe that “s.c.r.a.p.s.” will gain popularity as far upcycled clothing brands go. I just have to believe in myself as a creative person.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am the designer behind “s.c.r.a.p.s.”, a clothing brand rooted in showing how stylish sustainable fashion can be.
“s.c.r.a.p.s.” is an acronym for stylish, creative, rebellious, androgynous, playful, and sustainable. I also gave my brand the name “s.c.r.a.p.s.” because I use clothing and leftover materials that I have “scrapped” to make my one-of-one pieces.
I want to show people how much life you can give to old items of clothing that they might have thought of discarding or donating.
What matters most to you? Why?
Inclusivity is important to me. “s.c.r.a.p.s.” is a brand for anyone and everyone. Clothing is truly wearable art and I want the people who wear my pieces to feel like art themselves, no matter their size or identity.
All my pieces are one of one, but I plan on having a wide size range for each of my collections.
