Meet Kate Becker of Nature Link

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kate Becker. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Kate and Tony have a current event center location in Cambridge, MN. They set their sights on building a new venue on a body of water in northern Minnesota in 2020, with the dream of offering lodging on the same property to offer destination weddings. It was no coincidence when they connected with Ben and Zoie and learned that they, too, were searching for land to put a resort on! Their dream was to create a place where people could come and disconnect from technology while connecting with nature. After learning about how similar their vision was, the couples knew they needed to join forces and do this project together. They searched long and hard for a property up north, and after many God-given signs, they knew it was very clear that they were meant to have a property in the Brainerd Lakes area. When they finally found the property in Nisswa that is now home to Nature Link, the four of them all had a gut feeling it was the one! The vision from there was clear; this was the perfect spot for what they had always wanted to build. Ben, Zoie, Kate, and Tony all believe we are at our best when we can disconnect from the busyness of everyday life. Creating a space where people can immerse themselves in nature and make lifelong memories with their loved ones, both in terms of a venue and a resort, is a dream come true for them.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We truly believe every “failure” or setback is an opportunity to learn something new! Finding the perfect piece of land was a challenge, but we are all people of faith and believe that every piece of land we “lost out on” led us to exactly where we are meant to be! We can’t imagine being anywhere but Nisswa. The community has welcomed us with open arms, and we are honored to be here!

We’ve been impressed with Nature Link, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The wedding venue and resort concept for Nature Link is deeply rooted in nature (hence the name)! It is focused on helping individuals disconnect from the hustle and bustle of their everyday lives and connect with nature and their loved ones. We hope that we can help all of our guests foster “Impact moments” moments that have the opportunity to have a positive impact on your life. Whether you’re getting married at our venue, hosting a business retreat, or staying in one of our cabins. Whether that’s getting married (obviously impactful), here for a business retreat and planning a bigger vision for your team and your employees, or simply just here as an individual and needing a week to disconnect and decompress. Our goal is that coming to our resort will give you that opportunity. I think the modern design of our venue and our cabins is the first thing that people notice that sets us apart. It’s not your typical ‘up north’ aesthetic. The design of the buildings is simple, modern, and minimal, with huge windows that help bring the outdoors in. We want people to feel calm, relaxed, and connected with nature even when they are indoors!

What do you think about happiness?
All 4 of us owners love creating spaces where people can come, gather, and create lifelong memories. It fills our hearts when we can read stories of people who have visited our resort and left feeling inspired, rejuvenated, and recharged. One of our core values is “impact”: we are boldly pursuing a world we’ve changed for the better by giving joy, driving community, and empowering the people we come in contact with. Nature makes us happy. There is something so life-giving about disconnecting with everything in day-to-day life that makes us ‘busy,’ and to allow yourself to think, breath, dream, and come alive again.
