Daily Inspiration: Meet Evan Dunn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evan Dunn.

Hi Evan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
GAY! Gay is a word; when people hear it, they have the idea of a guy with a six-pack, nice chest, great white smile, and more. For me, that’s a hard thing to adjust to as I have a few extra layers. I have always had support from close friends and some family members, but on the business side of things, it’s not as easy when traveling. I came out in 2016 over social media on a cruise ship and silenced my phone not to hear the negative reactions as I was bullied in school. When coming to port, I looked at my phone and had an outpour of love. As I started to get more successful in acting, I had people who used to bully me in high school and middle school apologizing. I say being a plus-size gay man has its pros and cons. I have been in Batman 2022, the Drs, Red Notice, Venus as a Boy, Mr. Mayor, and Dog, as I attended the Emmy awards a few years back. The hard part about acting is when they are looking for LGBTQ men; they are looking for that ideal six-pack Ab guy.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a smooth road?
It is slowly getting smoother as the plus-size men are starting to emerge. The struggles are not getting booked as much because I am that plus-size man.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My biggest change is moving from LA to a small town in Tofte, MN, and still trying to do big things. In my free time, I am a social media influencer. I have been to 22 countries with and without working with National Geographic. I am proud of being able to travel as much as I do. My next big trip is this August from the 6-19 as I am going to Ibiza to do some collab work for a hotel and other influencers. I will be doing Ibiza, Rome, Paris, Madrid, and Barcelona.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
Yes, I use many different social media to help me do creative work. I use Instagram the most if I’m posting onto my story or my page, and Snapchat.
