Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Jonas.
Hi Samantha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Samantha Jonas. I am the owner of Pure Bliss Salon & Spa; I was born and raised on a dairy farm west of Long Prairie. I started doing my family’s hair when I was in middle school. Once I graduated from high school, I decided to go to cosmetology school. I attended the model college of hair design in Saint Cloud, where I met my soulmate, Patrick, while he was going to St. Cloud State, and we’ve been married since 2012. We have 3 beautiful children that are the light of our lives! My goal every day is to show them how not to give up and reach for their dreams.
At the start of my career, I worked at a high-end salon in saint cloud (GB & Co.) for 9 years and needed to give back to more family time. We moved out to Avon for my husband’s career, and shortly after that, a salon in town came up for sale. I had told my husband that it was too good of an opportunity to pass up! I knew that if at least one other person and I were at the salon in Avon, we could make the business work. We opened the first Pure Bliss Salon & Spa in July 2019 in Avon, MN. I loved all the places I had worked but wanted/needed to be on my own as a mother of 3 children with crazy schedules. It was the best way to take control of my schedule. Avon quickly filled with an amazing team of independents, and in the summer of 2021, I was approached about opening a 2nd location in Saint Cloud, ironically where I used to work. We then opened in October of 2021; a short while later, in May 2022, we presented another opportunity to open a 3rd location in Saint Joseph, which opened this July 2022.
As a stylist in the industry for 16 years, I created Pure Bliss Salon & Spa as a home for service providers to run their business out of Pure Bliss so that service providers could control their schedules. My goal and mission are to provide business opportunities for others in similar situations with experience and schedules to grow their business but yet to have the comradery and support as a commission salon. Pure Bliss has grown and crafted an amazing team/group of 30 individuals over the 3 locations that are highly driven and so amazing in their fields. Service providers throughout the locations include hairstylists, massage therapists, estheticians, lash technicians, nail technicians, waxing specialists, and more. My constant goal is to provide a home and an opportunity for everyone, client or service provider, a positive and welcoming environment.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a smooth road?
It was scary leaping to start a business. But with risk comes reward! I would have never anticipated some of our challenges but stressfully welcome them as they are the learning stepping stones to helping make me and Pure Bliss stronger and better. I’m not saying I openly welcome them, but I know that they happen for a reason, and as with anything in life, it depends on how you look at those obstacles. I have always tried to view them as learning and growth moments. It has been a whirlwind 3 years with covid in our first year, and even though it’s a blessing, opening 3 locations in 3 years has had many stressful moments. Still, I am ever so thankful for the people I have met and the opportunities presented to help make Pure Bliss Salon & Spa what it is today!

For myself being a hairstylist has and always will be my ultimate passion. I love connecting with my guests and helping them feel fresh, new, and beautiful. I value every laugh, tear, and conversation. It is an honor to meet so many new and wonderful people daily. Each client is so unique in their style and personality. I enjoy helping sculpt a look that best suits every guest sitting in my chair – from haircuts to the perfect hair color. As for Pure Bliss, what sets us apart is our 3 locations provide a wide service area covering central Minnesota with many amazing and talented stylists and salon professionals. Their skills, training, and experience are unwavering; our service providers are always there with a warm, welcoming smile and always strive for the best for our clients. We also have an amazing salon culture, and I know I’m blessed to be surrounded by so many talented individuals in the industry every day!
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Pure Bliss is what it is today because of the hard-working people that operate out of our salons! I may be the worker bee that keeps it all flowing behind the scenes, but those that operate out of the salons and our clients have helped Pure Bliss continue to flourish and thrive!
