Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynn Schuster.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Echo Lash & Brow is a salon focused on providing the highest quality eyelash enhancement services with an ethos of sustainability practices. Living sustainably has always been a central value to me. It isn’t enough to be conscientious at home. The Earth needs us to be mindful in our day to day too.
Traditionally, salons create daily heaps of waste going to the landfill. The eyelash beauty industry is so new that there really wasn’t a space for green lashes. I knew I needed to create a salon that put importance on environmentalism.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Creating an eco-conscious eyelash & brow salon from scratch meant routing a new path. There is no “one stop shop” to gather green supplies. It didn’t exist! To source supplies that use sustainable packaging, quality ingredients, ethical material sourcing, and that are not greenwashed takes effort. It is time-consuming to research items and costs more money in the wallet than cheap plastic versions. The benefits of hand-selections are well worth it!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Helping folks feel happy is my jam! I love creating lash and brow designs that give people a feeling of confidence. Sparse natural lashes, gaps in the lash line, special situations, can come from all kinds of reasons. Sometimes, services are not suitable for certain natural lashes. At Echo, special techniques are used to enhance lashes to fuller glory! Dainty natural lashes are welcome here! Empowering people to feel good about their appearance in such a unique way makes me feel good too.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
So many lessons were learned through this experience of global pandemic. In a personal sense, this has distilled what is truly important in life. The way I want to spend my finite time. The energy I want to put into relationships.
In a business sense, I learned that even when you are an entrepreneur, things beyond your control will affect your business. Business gurus have the wisdom to share but no one person has the secret formula for success or how things should function. This was an unprecedented situation that no CEO alive has had to overcome in modern business. The word of the decade is “Pivot”! Roll with the punches
I also discovered that cubing day-old homemade bread makes THE best French toast. Perfect golden coating on every bite.
