Hi Kai, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, my name is Kai. I’m a Filipino based in Minneapolis. I migrated to the States almost 10 years ago. I worked Speech and Language pathologist in a school district in Southern Oregon for a few years before I decided to switch careers.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was very challenging to live in a country where I do not know anyone and do not have families around. The anxiety, homesickness and depression started to kick in. That’s how I started cooking and found out that it helps me relax. That’s how I started sharing my cooking and how Krispy Bits with Kai was born.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At the moment, I have left my job as a Speech and Language Pathologist and just started working as an assistant baker while also being a content creator for my brand Krispy Bits with Kai.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
That I used to be an educator and speech therapist. I have never talked about my past career as I really wanted a fresh start for myself. I love working with kids but making food and baking for the people I love is extremely important to me.
