Meet EMA Jade Beaver

Today we’d like to introduce you to EMA Jade Beaver.

Hi EMA, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, I’m EMA also known as Jade Beaver. I’m a Minnesota native with a huge love for animals and a ton of different passions. I’ve always had an interest in djing, music has always been a passion of mine since I was a young girl. As long as I can remember, my mom has always had me singing on a mic or playing on the keyboard. I joined the electronic music scene in 2013 and haven’t looked back. House music has been my all-time favorite genre since entering the scene, and this last year I decided I wanted to do more than be a concertgoer. I have multiple friends who DJ, so after they showed me how to prep songs, I spent hours watching tutorials and teaching myself how to mix. I had my first big show in August of 2022, and luckily the gigs kept flowing in. I have had a really excellent support system throughout my entire journey and I’m super thankful. I have plans to continue DJing, of course, and I am in the middle of learning how to produce music. It’s been an incredible journey, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest roadblock I’ve hit was moving across the country and not knowing a single soul in the electronic scene in Arizona. I’m immersing myself in the scene as much as possible, but it’s challenging as I work a full-time job (Recruitment Marketing Specialist at Sleep Number) and a part-time job (My own web design business, Jadeology Design LLC), so it can be challenging to find the energy or time to go out and make those new strong connections and friends. I know it’ll come, and in the meantime, I am working on taking my DJing to the next level and learning how to produce.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My main passions are DJing, designing websites, digital marketing, and art (whether that’s digital art or not). There is a lack of women representation in the EDM scene (when it comes to DJs) which has helped push me to acquire more gigs. I have worked really hard to learn the basic ins and outs of DJing in a short amount of time to play shows that I’m super proud of. I also have the drive to take my DJing to the next level. I am super proud of myself for being brave enough to suck at something new for a bit, for following my dreams, for continuously filling my life with hobbies that I love, and for continuing on this journey.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
After a show, the main question I always receive is “How long have you been DJing?”

They’re shocked to hear that it’s only been a couple of months. The feedback I’ve received has been incredible.
