Today we’d like to introduce you to Jill Capri.
Hi Jill, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started YouTube almost 2 years ago without much start. I did create an Instagram for the followers I didn’t know I would gain for a long time. It’s always been my dream to be an “influencer” but not 100% how to get there. There have been ups and downs to the rise. I’m still not huge compared to the people I look up to. I don’t even have 1,000 followers on any platform yet! Mental health is important so it can be stressful being in the public eye. Working hard and consistently posting/uploading on platforms that I wanted the rise on. Just being myself as a person has gotten me farther. Being myself and inspiring those that do follow me has definitely made it way easier. I play my violin alongside social media and want to learn guitar. Music has always been something that’s helped me. We can even say it saved my life…the people I look up to inspire me for my upcoming music. Jinxx of BVB, Avril Lavigne, all of Black Veil Brides for that matter, Johnnie Guilbert. I took inspiration from their styles and I love it! I’m giving them the mention because I wouldn’t be where I am currently without them! My voice has improved and I can’t wait for the public to be able to hear my improvements. I was really young when I started social media. It’s something that I have been passionate about since I was little. Now I’m a teenager. I’m never gonna look back/regret starting this future empire!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It really has been. Rising always has pros and cons. The people that follow you are the ones that make you who you are. My battles with depression, body image, anxiety, etc really put pressure on me to be like everyone else. The people that work hard and be themselves are the ones that the platforms hide and I have no clue as to why. There are always ignorant haters who hate on you and don’t give anything to know how hard the work is. I lost friends who didn’t believe in me. The struggles in my life nobody got. Even now with how tiny I still am, I get DMs on Instagram saying how they look up to me and I’m like their favorite YouTuber and TikToker. This is about most platforms too. It definitely wasn’t easy! All the negative energy and setbacks make it so you give in and quit. Sometimes it’s been hard for me to continue this social media path. 50% of the time the negatives outweigh the positives. All I do and encourage others to do is laugh and move on. I just keep looking forward to all that I can do with my life. People who put me down probably won’t be successful since they’re going around making fun of people! That goes for you too! I don’t post as much on YouTube as I used to. I’m extremely active and post on other platforms though! YouTube is one giant burn out for me. With school and things, I have to focus on “real world” necessities, it’s hard to find the time, energy, and motivation to edit the videos. I have no problems filming them but editing is the issue. I have ADHD which is being treated for focus. It still doesn’t help with motivation. I do what I can, I just keep my mental health (even physical health) in check so that when I do make a comeback to YouTube it will be fun for everyone and I’m not just posting content to post it. Being in the public eye isn’t simple. It’s actually really tough!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a YouTuber, Instagramer, TikToker, a face on FaceBook, a Twitter ranter, I SnapChat. I’m extremely proud of the fact that at one point, I was able to put myself out there. My talent, my art, soon to be music under, Jill Capri. I definitely should technically stand out since I’m a teenage personality. I’d say I stand out since you don’t see many people dress like me. I’m an emo kid who isn’t ashamed to admit it. I’m known for my unique fashion, the person who isn’t afraid to speak up about what they’re feeling, makeup, and overall being different which is most important in my opinion. I have an art account on Instagram. Art has forever meant something to me just like music. When I get time, I work on my drawings and get them posted ASAP once I’m finished. The improvement over time is insane! Just like everything else. My YouTube videos got better, the Instagram posts, FaceBook rants, and Twitter rants. I know I don’t stream on Twitch very much. If at all but I’m sure my streaming abilities are better now too. I still stream on Instagram, so that is what it is.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
If you want to make it as I did, always try your best. It won’t be easy for 99% of you but it will be worth it. Never give up! I may be small but with a lot of time, energy, and effort, I know for a fact ALL of my dreams will be a reality. As Jake Pitts once said “Follow your heart and chase your dreams until you catch them. Negative people who say you can’t do something are only speaking for themselves.” You got this and I believe in you! Chase your dreams. It will be worth it! <3 “With life you can have a sketch of it. Like a rough draft of the future. You don’t know what the final project or picture of it will be until it happens.”
