Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Angela Maurer.
Hi Dr. Maurer, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Ever since I was a child, I knew I wanted to be a doctor….it never wavered. Then as I went through college and had various jobs over the years, I found I didn’t want to just prescribe medications all day every day. I then discovered chiropractic care. I liked how they looked at the body as a whole system and offered relief without the use of drugs or surgery. Once I chose that direction I knew that owning my own practice was the only way to go for me. I started on the journey almost 16 years ago and despite the challenges of running a business and being a doctor it has been the best life decision for me!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Initially, as a single female, it was difficult to obtain financing. Building a practice from ground zero was a challenge and as any small business owner knows, continues daily.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
When I opened the doors to this practice, I had a long-term vision in mind. It was a huge risk from a financial standpoint. I wanted the impression for patients to be the same day one as 10 years down the road. I took on a very large overhead off the bat and the leap of faith that it would all work out. I could have played it safe and opened a small outfit and then as I grew, moved up into a bigger space, etc. However, I wanted to be in a place that I could open the doors and stay long-term.
There are times when you need to take big risks and see how it plays out. Some will and some won’t but in order to be successful in business, it is imperative to take risks.
