Today we’d like to introduce you to Keith Gittens-Jones. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Keith Gittens Jones aka Phantom Electric Ghost is a strong believer in creating music with hardware analog, and digital synths. In 2012 he created his alter ego Josephine Electric the phantasm female lead singer of the band Phantom Electric ghost using Roland Vocal transformer technologies found in the JDXI, VT-3, and later VT-4. The transition to Josephine Electric as the voice for the Phantom Electric Ghost (PEG) increased listenership on SoundCloud to the over 80,000 plays that Jones has today. The attention created by the Phantom Electric Ghost SoundCloud, provided Jones with the opportunity to become a podcaster now defunct SpareMin smartphone app. In 2018, Jones transitioned to Anchor.fm where he currently has over 20,000 listens. The Phantom Electric Ghost podcast has interviewed over 30 musicians and artists worldwide including artists such as Kendra Black, Kendra Erika, Sex With Roller Coasters, DJ Leenata, Reign, and actor NYC actor Jes Davis.
Phantom Electric Ghost has collaborated with artists such as Chernobello.com (for the cover of the album II Infinitum in 2017) and ALT+CTRL+K on the same project. Deeply influenced by progressive rockers such as Emerson Lake and Palmer, Genesis, and YES; PEG is also rooted in New Romantic (New Wave), Jazz(Sun Ra), and Funk (Prince, Parliament Funkadelic, and Sly and Family Stone). This diverse mix of genres is what makes up Expansive Sound and what make Phantom Electric Ghost a unique musical endeavor.
2019, PEG released on his indie label Expansive Sound Experiments “The Flower That Blooms at Midnight in the Tomb” and synthwave and experimental album created almost entirely on the Teenage Engineering OP-Z multimedia synthesizer and sequencer. The same year he also released on MOJOHEADZ records the EP “U Have Some Personal Demons 2 Betray” an analogue EDM dance track. Phantom Electric Ghost has now taken their career to the next level and is currently signed to Bentley Records, an International Record Label based in New York City. PEG has been releasing singles on Bentley Records since May 2019. To Find out more, let PEG music tell the rest of the story.
Since the 2020 Phantom Electric Ghost release too many albums to mention, the showpiece that we are most proud of is the current release 2022’s PEG4EVER an over 2-hour collection of the most Expansive song set yet.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a cancer survivor, I have had to face mortality. My wife currently experienced a Cancer Diagnosis in 2022. Issues caused us to file for Chapter 13 Bankruptcy but we are still pursuing our dreams
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am known for my podcast where I have done over 750 episodes. I like to do behind the music style interviews with emerging and indie artists
I am also known for my jam band, stream of consciousness music and belief in DAWless recording.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
My city is Concord NH… It does not have a great progressive music scene.
I do like the privacy and pastoral nature of NH.
