Life & Work with Brady Holland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brady Holland.

Hi Brady, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was a collegiate golfer at Winona State University and was studying marketing. I had some really amazing times while I was down in Winona but I also had some really difficult times as I was really focused on becoming a better golfer and doing well in class. While my teammates were more intrigued by the “college experience” and that was something that I really did not care for. As the year went along I grew farther away from the team and was getting held back from my teammates. I ended up winning newcomer of the year for all Winona State athletics as well as the newcomer of the year for the NCIS conference. I was the only one that qualified for regionals at Winona State. As I sat in my hotel room by myself I deiced I was going to get my real estate license as it might come in handy one day. I luckily had an aunt (Lisa Rehling) who worked for CSM a commercial real estate company in the cities. She got me in contact with Justin Wing an agent that worked at CSM and I sat down for lunch with him and had an incredible time and learned so much just in one meeting and was so excited to learn more. The meeting was on July 3rd so I went from the meeting to my friend’s time in Milwaukee for The Fourth of July. I had a couple of days to look back at the meeting and applied for any real estate job that would allow me to apply. I would then end up going on about 30 different interviews with residential agents and commercial agents. I was in a suit and tie for almost the whole month of July. I sat down with Tyler Miller of The Tyler Miller Team and absolutely loved it!

I ended up calling my college coach and telling him I was not going back to college right after the interview. I ended up starting at The Tyler Miller Team the next day and met my mentor Blake Guyer. I was lucky enough to have Blake as my mentor as we sold 10 homes in my first 60 days which was an unbelievable experience for me. I was on every single appointment with him and then finally got licensed and got my first deal under contract 10 days into getting my license. I have now started three podcasts, grown a solid social media following as well as love what I do every single day.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
There have been a lot of struggles along the way. Dropping out of college and giving up an amazing opportunity to be a successful golfer was a very choice to make.

People around me made me feel like I was making the worst decision of my life but I used all the hate to motivate me to be even more successful. It was hard jumping into the industry with so little knowledge of it but I worked my butt off to learn everything I could and am so happy and confident because of the obstacles I have faced along the way.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a real estate agent at The Tyler Miller Team with eXp Realty. I help families get into their dream homes. I am extremely proud of myself for starting my own business and setting myself apart from others through the ways I promote not only myself but other local businesses.

Something that sets me apart from others is that I have a podcast that I will bring anyone that is looking for ways to promote their business and sit down and chat about it. I also utilize social media a lot with different real estate-related content that I post daily. At the end of the day, I tell people I get families into their dream homes for a living and I couldn’t be happier when I get to see their smiling faces at the closing table.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
I feel like I have learned many lessons so far in my career.

One lesson that really sticks out to me is feeling uncomfortable at least once a day. If you feel uncomfortable you are learning something new and growing from those experiences. It is a goal of mine every day to feel uncomfortable at least once in that day to grow to become a better person.

Another lesson that I have learned is that do not to give up. If you fail at something keep trying and it will pay off in one way or another.
