Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariyon Kelly.
Hi Ariyon, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
We established ourselves in 2016, working primarily on custom footwear. Since then we have expanded into many other mediums and offer many different services. While we still produce custom footwear, as well as modern contemporary art pieces, our main focus has been the launch of our streetwear clothing brand and building our creative company as a whole.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been far from smooth sailing to say the least. Struggles of an entrepreneur are common amongst most, but that doesn’t make it any less challenging. I am self taught in everything aspect of my business. Coming from being a basketball player all my life to switching to art and design, it took a while for people to take me seriously. And even still now I often doubt myself and my progress in my journey. Even though I’m far from where I want to be, I’m too far from where I started to stop and turn around now.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an all-around creative. I am self taught in everything I do. I started out painting footwear, which lead to painting on canvas and learning new mediums like spray paint, and now I’ve been teaching myself digital art the last year which has led to me releasing my clothing line, and offering both graphic design and clothing manufacturing services for others. I am proud of the original art pieces and clothing designs I have some up with in the past two years and I really feel like I’ve found an art style that speaks to who I am and what I’m trying to do.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I grew up an athlete. I played basketball my whole life. I was competitive, intelligent, and I always knew from a young age that no matter what I did, I was gonna own something. I wasn’t gonna work for someone else, I was gonna be my own boss.
