Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Ross.
Hi Nicole, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My husband and I loved to decorate our house and yard for Halloween. Our display grew throughout the years and eventually we became known as “the Halloween House”. People thanked us for making the season so much fun and we even received cards and letters from the kids at a local daycare and school telling us how much they loved walking through our yard. Later we learned the industry term for people like us was “home haunters”. We met two other home haunters who also had been part of a local haunted house team. Together we decided to create Nowhere.
Nowhere Entertainment has grown into a family friendly community entertainment center with a variety of activities. Escape rooms, mini golf, an arcade, and a venue for private events: birthday parties, corporate events and team building, wedding receptions, reunions, silent auctions, sports banquets, and even weddings! All of this plus a haunted house with varying levels of scare so everyone from kids to those seeking more intense thrills can be entertained. Our youth and teen “Camp Nowhere” is an innovative summer camp where kids grow confidence and bring their creativity to learning scare acting, professional makeup techniques, costuming, animatronics and set painting.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We’ve met numerous challenges along the way – it has not been an easy journey. I think currently our biggest challenge is being a small business with a small budget which makes it difficult to get our name out. We still have people coming in and saying “Wow, I live in Inver Grove and never knew you were here!”. Once people come in they are really happy and tend to return, it’s just getting the initial foot traffic.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
There a a few things that I believe makes our business unique and special:
– Customer Service: we LOVE to make our guests feel welcome, to help them create great memories, and to make their visit as fun as possible.
– Special touches for parties and events. We feel honored to be a part of our guests’ celebrations and life milestones. We want to help make the event unique so we customize birthday parties, make personalized centerpieces for private occasions. work with each guest so they can get as close to their vision for the event as possible. It’s not just we have a room for rent and you put your event together, we provide special touches and event planning at no extra charge. We work to keep pricing as reasonable as possible as well.
– Our center is created with original artwork and we employ artists with our actors and makeup artists. Our haunted house and escape room sets and our murals in mini golf are all original and hand painted giving our center a unique and one of a kind atmosphere.
– We have a passion for what we do.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
We genuinely care about our customers. We have a fantastic staff both on our entertainment center side and our haunted house side. All care about giving our customers a great experience whether it’s through helping kids at the mini golf course and arcade, or giving the most through acting and makeup work.
We love what we do so we are always trying to improve our sets, escape rooms, private events, summer camps, and overall center atmosphere.
We put the customer first and want to create visits and events that celebrate them, their families, and friends.
