Daily Inspiration: Meet Cassie Hendrickson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassie Hendrickson.

Hi Cassie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hey, I am Cassie. Owner of Pretty Creative Events. I had always wanted to work in some sort of creative design space. Unfortunately, school was never for me & I had zero related work experience so finding jobs in the fields I was most interested in just wasn’t happening for me. Most of the credit goes to my husband who encouraged me to start my own creative business which led me to launching Pretty Creative Events in May of 2021.

At the time, I really wasn’t even sure what I was launching. I figured at most; the Instagram page would turn into maybe another blog with a few inquiries here and there. What started out as really just a hobby with high hopes turned into a legitimate business & in just 6 months, I was up to 70 jobs completed with more on the books.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nowhere near smooth! I wouldn’t consider myself a natural entrepreneur or business owner. It’s really been a journey & I am still in the thick of it. Currently, I am operating out of my home & creating space for my inventory has been a constant challenge. The biggest struggle I would say is juggling stay at home mom life with business owner life & figuring out time management.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Pretty Creative Events is an event styling business that offers luxury balloons, backdrops & other creative installations, stylish picnics, full event styling & even seasonal interior decorating. Basically, anything that is pretty or creative – I want to be a part of it.

I would say I am primarily known for my luxury balloon installations & ever evolving backdrops. MN tends to be behind on the trends & my goal is to eventually get to a place where I can be ahead of it. Currently, this includes different techniques I implement into my designs such as creating custom colors & bringing in fun new rentals! One thing I am incredibly proud of is that most of my clients have become repeat customers. I would say my primary focus is to continue to build those genuine relationships with them. They’re the reason I am currently here now.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t know if I believe in luck however, I do believe I’ve been privileged and blessed beyond belief with opportunity but that’s not to say it’s been easy. It’s for sure about who you know & making the right connections. There are certain people who introduced me to opportunities that have gotten me this far, however there were many times I wanted to turn down a job because I was scared I couldn’t do what they were asking of me. I’ve been faced with challenges but I figured it out. The thing is, you can be given a million opportunities but ultimately, it’s you who has to figure out how to find success out of that.
