Daily Inspiration: Meet Gail Grimslid

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gail Grimslid.

Hi Gail, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been the person who goes a little extra for parties and celebrations. I worked as a wedding and event coordinator for 12 years, prior to having kids. During the covid shut down, I was pregnant and bored and started setting up balloon garlands for my family members as a way to still celebrate without having huge groups of people.
Balloons turned into a creative outlet, and before I knew it, I was helping other families bring magic to their kids birthdays. That hobby became Grimzlow, etc, my first business. Focused on fun, whimsy and making childhood feel special.

As I worked more events, I met so many incredible small businesses who were pouring their hearts into what they do. It inspired me to co-create Destination Handmade, a company built to connect local makers with communities through markets, pop-ups, and family-friendly experience shopping. It’s all about supporting the people behind the products.

And Coulee Lemon Co! My kids inspired this business venture. Who doesn’t love lemonade? We were already attending so many community events. My business partner and I wanted something fun and refreshing that brought smiles, and the idea clicked. Coulee Lemon Co serves a playful, seasonal lemonade (sometimes with glitter…always with joy) and it’s become this fun extension of the magic I love creating.

Community is everything, I want families to feel welcome, supported and excited to make memories with each other. Whether it’s through a drink, an event, or a small business connection, my goal is always to add a little more magic to peoples everyday lives.

It all comes back to my kids, I want experiences for them growing up and I thought – why not share with everyone? And the best part? There’s still so much more to come.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth? Not even close. But I’ve learned that I thrive in a little chaos. The kind that comes with juggling creativity, business, and motherhood all at once. I’m a planner by nature, I’ve having systems, organization, and a vision. But events and entrepreneurship have taught me that no matter how well you plan, there will always be variables you simply can’t control.
Weather changes. Trends shift. Kids get sick. A vendor cancels last minute. A location falls through. You think something is something…then life laughs.

So I’ve gotten good at pivoting, fast. If plan A falls apart, I already have plan B built and if needed, C through Z. I’ve learned that flexibility isn’t a weakness, it’s one of my biggest strengths.

There have been failures, absolutely. There have been messy days where things have felt like they were unraveling. But I surround myself with other businesses that have the same vision as me and we work together to make magic happen.

I don’t expect smooth anymore. I expect growth and have proven to myself, again and again, that I can handle both the chaos and the comeback!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in creating experiences that bring families and communities together. Whether it’s immersive events, unique vendors or something as simple as lemonade. I’d like to think I’m known for turning ordinary days into a little bit of magic and for building brands that make people smile and feel included.

What I’m most proud of is the impact. Watching parents and kids make real memories. Creating joy is spaces that need it, that’s what fills my cup.

What sets me apart is the way I blend creativity with logistics. I’m a dreamer with a clipboard. I think big, but I also know that the smallest details matter. I don’t just plan events, I design moments that are intentional and special. And I do it with my whole heart. I try to listen. I care. I pay attention to the experience, not just the outcome.
Everything I do comes back to the same mission – Joy + Community + Connection.
If those are present, then I know I’m doing exactly what I’m meant to be doing.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I’ll be honest, I’m filled with anxiety. But I tell myself, “If I don’t do this, someone else will” That perspective keeps me moving forward, even when it’s scary.

Over the years, I’ve realized that anxiety doesn’t mean I shouldn’t act, it means I’m on the edge of growth. I’ve taking risks, launching businesses, pivoting during uncertain times, creating experiences that no one else has tried locally, and yes – it’s terrifying. But it’s also where the move rewarding moments come from. Facing that head on is what separates someone who dreams from someone who builds.
