Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Sires.
Hi Shannon, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello! I am the photographer behind Shannon Sires Photography. I am a bold and colorful photographer located near La Crescent, Minnesota. I started my photography journey around 9 years ago by taking photos for friends and family. I remember my first paid session I made $25 and I thought that was just the coolest thing ever. Now, almost 9 years later, I have stepped away from my full time vision therapist job and am doing photography full time. It has opened up so many amazing doors for me, and has allowed me to meet people that I never would have met otherwise. I love being able to see a family year after year and watch their stories unfold behind my lens.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being a small business always has its ups and downs. Thankfully my community has really supported me through every season.

I am a photographer located in La Crescent, MN. I specialize in family and newborn photography, but also do seniors and weddings. My style of photography is bold, colorful, and emotive. I love capturing my clients’ personalities and being able to let them shine. Photography is so much more than photos, it’s capturing the true story of each family, and being able to connect deeper.
How do you define success?
Success to me is being able to be home with my kids. Being able to support my family and be present for them. I love being able to set my own schedule so I can enjoy all the moments with my family.
