Hi Jeremy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We had always wanted to use our property to create a thriving family business where I could leave corporate America and spend more time with my family. We talked about raising steers on our property, with the next step being the processing of those steers. After researching the cost of renovating our outbuilding into a processing facility, we realized how out of reach that idea was. Right at the same time, Schroeder Meats came up for sale to include the building, equipment, and 30 years of customers and farmers. After much due diligence and even more prayer, we made an offer and became the new owners of Schroeder Meats.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Coming from fleet maintenance, becoming a butcher and a business owner was a complete career change for me. I had to learn how to break down and process whole animals, how to make sausage, and how to take off my business hat at the end of the day. We’ve had people come and go, and have learned to adjust to our busy and slow seasons; each having challenges of their own. Equipment breaks and employees call out sick. Continuing to overcome these things lets us fight another day.
As you know, we’re big fans of Havenwood Meats. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Custom processing and handcrafted sausage are the two main parts of our business. We process livestock to our customer’s specifications, and stock a variety of sausage and meat cuts in our retail store and in stores around the area.

We are currently working to improve the customer experience with a renovation to our retail space and offering delivery later in 2025 to bring the next level of convenience to our customers.
