Today we’d like to introduce you to Daletta Higgins
Daletta, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was finishing up Esthetician school and I was looking to start a retirement fund, So one of my classmates introduced me to a lady who was running a Financial Company. The lady reached out to me and hired me to work at her beauty shop and we never talked about retirement. After a year or so working at the shop during the pandemic. I switched over to her financial company because before beauty school, I had a strong interest in the financial industry. So I started preparing taxes for individuals and small businesses, and became a life insurance agent. After a couple years of being mentored. I took the proper steps to start my own financial business and that is how Letta’s Financial Consulting was born.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road of building a business has not been smooth. As I was building my mindset I would come home to a person whose vision wasn’t as big as mind. That caused self doubt and for me to drop everything and relocate back to Minnesota having to start over. This came after already starting my company Letta’s Financial Consulting. It’s hard to play face in my business but going what I was going through personally. I felt like a fraud.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As I’m building my business I’m still working my 9-5. I work with vulnerable adults and elderly.
I’m a financial coach and the owner of Letta’s Financial Consulting, where I help individuals and small businesses take control of their money. Through my coaching program, I guide clients in budgeting, saving, and improving their financial mindset. I also provide tax preparation, credit repair, and life insurance services to help them build and protect their financial future.
What sets me apart is that I don’t just teach finances. I help people transform their mindset and break generational cycles of poverty. Having overcome financial struggles myself, I coach from experience, making budgeting, credit repair, and saving feel practical and achievable. My approach is hands-on, engaging, and holistic, combining tax prep, credit repair, life insurance, and money coaching to create lasting financial change. Through my ‘Pay Yourself First’ method, I empower clients to take control of their money and build real wealth.
I have a E Book called Pay Yourself First it started off as a journal with what techniques I teach on how to pay yourself first, and then it advance to a full-blown workbook.
I’m a publish author on a collaboration piece with other authors, called the Secret recipe of a Overcomer. It’s a different kind of recipe book. We tell our story on how we overcame the biggest obstacle in our life.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I love knowing what people do. Every time I meet someone new I ask them what they do for work or in life period. I love hearing other people’s stories. That’s how I met the mentors in my life. There are networking events happening all the time. Some are free and some cost. You can find them on event brite. I follow different people on social media that aligns with my beliefs or where I’m heading in life. If they share events I see if I’m available to attend or if it’s virtual.
