Today we’d like to introduce you to Drew Miller.
Drew, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I last had a fulltime job over 20 years ago. As the music business moved away from CDs, and having had my best job ever running my label and two others, I decided to see if I could make it on my own. So far so good!
My first step was to go through my personal record collection and set myself up to sell at record shows. One thing led to another and I’m still selling records, here in WBL, online, and at two other Metro Area locations.
We have an ever-changing selection of used and select new records, tested vintage stereo gear, CDs, cassettes, music-related books, Blu-Rays, DVDs, VHS tapes, and accessories.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My main struggle is to get my car in the garage! Otherwise it’s full of records.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m the founder and bass player of Boiled In Lead – started in 1983. Guitar, bass, violin & drums play country music from many countries with power and emotion. BiL is the longest-running Celtic punk band in America, and an important part of the foundation of what became Minnesota punk rock. Today, the band’s star is still on the wall at First Avenue. 40-plus years on, the band moves forward again with a new lineup.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Loved records since the age of 3. (see black & white pic) Grew up in the DC area but went to college in Northfield MN. Right after I graduated I had the opportunity to DJ a show on community station KFAI. So that brought me to the Twin Cities where I started my band and put down roots.
