Today we’d like to introduce you to Liana Sun.
Hi Liana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I became interested in how the physical and energetic bodies work together in 1999 and started teaching yoga shortly after that (teacher trainings, RYT and YA were NOT a thing back then!) Since then, in addition to earning a Bachelor’s in Nutrition and Dietetics, I earned over 20 certifications in health, wellness and energy work. I currently work in a private setting, at my studio, Meraki Wellness and teach yoga 1 on 1 or to small, private groups, as well as offer Thai Yoga Bodywork, Energy/Chakra Work and Soul Purpose Coaching.
When I’m not helping people transform their lives through physical and energetic connections, I am a solo-mom to my 8-year-old daughter, and pet mom to a corgi mix and a horse, an avid hiker, a passionate foodie and seeker of more sun!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I got divorced in 2016 and had to completely rebuild my life and restructure my goals based on a single income. Finding the balance between being a mom and an entrepreneur has been the greatest challenge, but a worthwhile one!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Yoga Teacher and Thai Therapist, primarily. I am also a certified Chakra Healer, Crystal Healer and Soul Purpose Coach.
I absolutely LOVE sharing Thai Yoga Bodywork with my clients and offer more than just your standard session. I read the 7 major energy centers of the body (the Chakras) at the beginning of your session. During your session, I pay attention to how the body is responding and how that may be related to the different energy blockages. I then offer the use of a variety of oils, crystals and herbs to augment the energy work being done through the Bodywork.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I made the decision to open my own studio space and become a full-time entrepreneur during the middle of the pandemic in 2020! I thrive under risk, honestly. I think once your back is against the wall, you have no choice but to find success. In those situations, people will learn a lot about themselves and they will either persevere or they won’t. And they’re going to learn fast if that risk is something that’s worth it to them or not.
