Today we’d like to introduce you to Liz Gapinski.
Liz, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started grooming at the beginning of 2015 at a corporate salon. It didn’t take long for me to realize that working corporate was not the path I wanted to take for my career. From there, I left to work at a small salon in central Minnesota. Over the last 5 years, that salon became bigger and bigger and less of what I was wanting for myself as a groomer. So when I moved to Minneapolis I found a space where I could spread my love of pets to the the cities. It is my goal at Sunshine Pet Spa to provide a calm environment so our four legged friends can enjoy the pampering they deserve.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Though it was exciting to go on my own, I love my dogs at my previous salon still. My favorite thing about working with animals is the bond and connection that you make with each pet. This is why I still commute and work part time at my other salon because I would be heartbroken to not see those wagging tails anymore.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a professional groomer for cats and dogs. This in itself is a very artistic career. But, my passion lies in creative grooming. Using pet safe products, I love to do hair color on dogs and nail polish!
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Northeast Minneapolis is such a dog friendly community. I try to get my name out there by visiting other businesses that welcome dogs or going to pet markets.
