Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex and Ben Fournier.
Hi Alex and Ben, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Our journey started as young kids, fantasizing about what our careers could be when we grew up. The careers we dreamt about ranged from being a restaurant owner, or a pro-athlete to even fixing cars. As we got older, our interests developed, we learned more about ourselves and our passions started to take shape. Alex started taking steps toward a creative career; playing around with Photoshop and developing his passion for film. He became the president of the film club and started looking into film schools for college. Minnesota didn’t offer a lot of potential for someone wanting to pursue a career in film, so he decided to go to school out of state in Georgia. Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) met all the criteria Alex was looking for. This provided a chance for a fresh perspective in a new city, new opportunities and a hard-earned degree. All while Alex was doing this; I (Ben), was taking steps towards a creative career as well. Inspired by brands like Supreme & The Hundreds, I wanted a brand of my own where the logo and name could be used interchangeably no matter the style. As the years went on my passion as a music consumer evolved into wanting to produce music. This would then allow me the opportunity to make cover art & animations for my music. Shortly after sharing personal works is when the path of freelancing opened up the floodgates to what this interchangeable brand could be.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It’s all perspective and we think of our struggles as opportunities for growth. With that being said, we both have had our fair share of struggles. Moving, being sorely broke & each alone in a new state needing a sense of community bespoke to our interests and hobbies.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
KRE8 SH!T is a boutique creative agency & record label. We currently focus on creative and label services that aid artists and creators in getting them on a path of creating more sustainably and efficiently. We do this by doing extensive market research for each project we work on gaining key insights most artists would overlook. Our professional storytelling makes our planning, strategy & marketing services an overall experience for the consumer when paired with our creative services. We also host a bi-weekly DJ mix featuring independent & major label artists alike along with curating playlists & interviewing creatives on our blog. We hope to branch into live entertainment, and seasonal apparel as well as continuing to help artists & creators develop.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
We wouldn’t consider ourselves successful by any means. We like to believe each of our unique skill sets allows us to approach each project through the lens of a consumer as well as a professional.
