Meet Gina Ramsey

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Gina Ramsey. Check out our conversation below.

Gina, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
As an entrepreneur and business owner, I have found there is no “normal” day. Rather, when I wake up, I am prepared to hustle. My days consists of endless juggling of tasks and to dos. Thank goodness for the creator of the post it notes, or I probably wouldn’t make it through.

Besides working full-time as a social worker, I also juggle managing the bookkeeping side of our Superior Ceramic Coatings and manage my writing business. Just when I have my list ready, something from life decides to pop up- and then I find myself shifting gears and reprioritizing.

What keeps me centered and grounded is making sure I take moments in the day to enjoy a cup of coffee, enjoy our family pets, and always find a funny meme or short video to laugh at.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Five years ago, my husband Paul and I made what some might call a slightly unhinged—but ultimately life-changing—decision: we stepped into completely uncharted territory by launching two businesses at the same time. Together, we opened Superior Ceramic Coatings, where we apply Cerakote, a thin yet incredibly durable ceramic coating, to sporting and recreational equipment as well as motorcycle and automotive exhausts and engine components.

At the same time, I finally stopped ignoring the nudge I’d felt for a couple of decades and wrote the humor book I’d been putting off. That leap became my author business, Gina Ramsey Authorpreneur.

The road, as you might imagine, hasn’t been easy. Like any entrepreneurial journey, it’s been filled with challenges, curveballs, and speed bumps—both professionally and personally. One of the most significant came in April of 2025, when Paul began experiencing pins-and-needles sensations down both arms. What we discovered was startling: he had suffered a heart attack without the “classic” symptoms.

On May 27th, Paul underwent quadruple bypass surgery, followed by a demanding recovery. During that time, our customers showed extraordinary patience, kindness, and support—something we will never forget. Before long, Paul was back in the shop, completing projects and continuing to grow our customer base.

If there’s one thing this journey has taught us, it’s that running a business is far more like a marathon than a sprint. It takes perseverance, dedication, adaptability, and a whole lot of grit to keep moving forward.

We’ve also learned that business, at its core, is about relationships. From the beginning, Superior Ceramic Coatings has been committed to exceptional customer service and top-quality craftsmanship. That focus has led to repeat customers, outstanding reviews, and steady growth.

On the author side, I’ve published two books—Burnt Gloveboxes: Embracing Life When It Goes Up In Flames, Volumes I and II. These humor collections feature short essays inspired by Murphy’s Law moments and highlight the power of humor when navigating life’s inevitable mishaps. That work has since expanded into the Burnt Gloveboxes® Series Anthology, where others share their own stories of life’s conundrums. The first anthology “Animal Mayhem: When Wild Things Go Wilder is scheduled for release on April 29, 2026.

Beyond the books, I currently facilitate humor-writing classes, am bringing Burnt Gloveboxes to audiobook, and speak professionally—helping others reconnect with their goals and dreams while learning to find the funny in life’s unexpected moments.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
This is such a great question—and one I’ve found myself reflecting on deeply while writing my memoir (yes, I’m writing a memoir too).

As a child, I was a dreamer. I was creative, curious, full of excitement, and I loved laughing and telling stories. That was the real me. But along the way, many of my early experiences—interactions with adults, teachers, and peers—began to cast shadows over that authentic version of myself.

On my report cards, teachers often wrote things like, “Gina talks too much. She needs to stay focused on her assignments.” What they didn’t realize was that talking, storytelling, and connecting were how I processed the world. By eighth grade, another moment sealed that message even deeper. When I read a story I’d written about my dad’s brush with death, my classmates laughed. I didn’t know then that it was likely discomfort or immaturity—but what I learned in that moment was simple and lasting: don’t share your stories; people will laugh at you.

I also absorbed another quiet but powerful belief—that big dreams were meant for a select few, and that people like me should aim for what was safe, reasonable, and achievable.

I learned to think and remain small.

Fast forward years later, through career pivots, business ownership, heart attacks, burned gloveboxes, and more than a few “what am I doing?” moments—and I was incredibly fortunate to cross paths with women entrepreneurs who showed me something different. Not by preaching it, but by living it. They modeled courage, creativity, and possibility. They showed me that dreams aren’t reserved for the lucky few—they’re available to anyone willing to give themselves permission to pursue them.

And that realization changed everything.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering is a strong word— many of us instinctively label it as negative or something to avoid at all costs. But through my own journey, I’ve come to see suffering differently. Not as something that defines us, but as something that can shape us.

For me, suffering has been a powerful teacher. It has strengthened my resilience, sharpened my adaptability, and cultivated a tenacity I didn’t know I possessed. It has stretched me, humbled me, and—at times—forced me to slow down and listen more closely to what truly matters.

Most importantly, those experiences became a catalyst. They gave me the insight, empathy, and perspective needed to walk alongside others as they navigate their own challenges. What once felt like obstacles ultimately became tools—tools I now use to help others find clarity, courage, and hope, even in the midst of life’s most difficult moments.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
I rely most on the ideas of those who have gone before me—people who started with nothing more than a dream and chose to believe it was possible long before there was proof. These are individuals who envisioned a future, spoke it into existence, shared their plans with others, and then did the hard, often messy work of bringing it to life.

Many of the principles I return to—especially the law of attraction—come from people who tried, failed, learned, and got back up again. Their ideas aren’t rooted in perfection; they’re grounded in persistence. They remind me that setbacks aren’t signals to stop, but invitations to recalibrate and keep moving forward.

Some of the voices that continue to guide me include Walt Disney, who said, “All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them,” and famously reminded us, “If you can dream it, you can do it.” Napoleon Hill wrote, “Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve,” reinforcing the power of belief paired with intention. And Jack Canfield’s reminder—“Don’t worry about failures; worry about the chances you miss when you don’t even try”—has been especially grounding during moments of doubt.

Together, these ideas encapsulate the mindset of entrepreneurship, business ownership, and—quite honestly—success in life. They align perfectly with what my own journey has taught me: progress isn’t about avoiding hardship, but about choosing courage, curiosity, and belief, again and again, even when the path forward isn’t clear.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
My love for making others laugh, my love for travel and adventure, and my love for my family, friends, and of course my pets.
