Sophia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to do something creative that allowed me to work closely with people and serve them. I had no idea that God had placed photography on my heart from such a young age.
I officially started my photography journey at the end of my sophomore year of college. I was studying for a final when a crazy idea popped into my head: ‘what if I became a photographer?’ That summer, I purchased my first camera, took an online course, and had a dear friend, who was already a photographer, take me under her wing. She invited me to a few shoots, and from the very first session, I was hooked.
What drew me in most was the power photography has to capture precious, fleeting memories. During that first family session, a little toddler fell down and started crying. His mom immediately scooped him up, kissed his forehead, and told him everything would be okay. I snapped a photo of that tender moment and realized how meaningful it was. I realized that photographs preserve the beauty in life’s simplest gestures. That experience inspired my business motto: “Capturing moments that lead to lasting memories.”
On a wedding day, those moments are what matter most: the warm embrace between a bride and her grandparents, the laughter shared by the groom and his groomsmen, the prayer whispered by a bridesmaid before mass, and the gentle tears of joy shed throughout the day. Every couple has their own unique story, and I am honored to capture those stories with creativity, care, and love.
Photography challenges me to see beauty in every detail and to tell each love story in a way that feels genuine and timeless. I’m so grateful for the couples who ask me to preserve their most meaningful moments, moments that will become memories to last a lifetime.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve always been a dedicated person. While buying my first camera was a spontaneous decision, I used that moment to build something meaningful, a business that I could pour my heart into. When I started my photography business, I gave it to God and asked Him to use it according to His will. Since then, He has sent me so many wonderful clients whom I’m honored to bless through my photographs. It humbles me every day to know that I wouldn’t be where I am without the Lord’s guidance and grace.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a wedding photographer, I specialize in capturing each couple’s unique love story. When I meet with a couple for the first time, my goal is simply to get to know them and learn about their story. This connection helps my clients feel comfortable and confident working with me, after all, I’ll be “third-wheeling” them on their wedding day!
On the wedding day, we truly work as a team. I help each couple create a personalized timeline that allows them to enjoy every moment without feeling rushed. My customizable packages ensure there’s plenty of time for everything that matters most to the bride and groom. I always make sure to incorporate time in the schedule to pause, breathe, and live in the moment. You do not want to spend your wedding day running from photo to photo. My goal is to create a calm, enjoyable experience that lets couples feel relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera, so they can fully trust me to capture their day beautifully.
How do you define success?
For me, success is about the entire experience of working together, from building a client–photographer relationship to delivering a gallery that capture the authenticity of your wedding day.
