Today we’d like to introduce you to Stoney Banks.
Hi Stoney, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Tiffany Simmons, but I go by Stoney. I own a Luxury Beauty supply named Belle Reine Beauty Supply and am also a model. Growing up, I never felt beautiful or wanted due to my disability. I have astigmatism with 20/200 vision which has made life very hard in the past. I cannot legally drive or do as much as a normal person with eyesight. I started my beauty business in 2019 when I was fired from my collection agency job. Even in my adult years, I didn’t feel beautiful or confident, but I loved everything beautiful. I love dressing up and looking good, and I’ve always been told I am good at it. During my downtime being unemployed, I knew then that I wanted to do what I love and help other women feel beautiful. That is how I came up with belle Reine Beauty Supply, which means beautiful Queen. Shortly after starting my business, I got into a relationship and became pregnant. It was the worse relationship and pregnancy by far. I was in a high rush and constantly mentally abused! I stopped my business because I was completely torn and depressed. In 2021 my son was one when I rebranded my beauty business to an entirely new level. Before that time, I let the relationship go, went to therapy, and got better mentally. Since then, I started modeling. I was nominated at the black business ball21 in Minneapolis, I’ve done a radio interview, and I have just been growing mentally and as CEO of my Luxury beauty supply.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth ride. My eyesight isn’t that good, so I can’t just jump in a car and go to a popup shop whenever I want, which has been challenging trying to get noticed more. When I attend popup shops, I have to plan and prioritize. I’ve also had trouble with my mental health in the past, with a bad relationship, financial issues, and a new baby at the time. I have to fight just as hard because of my disability. I sometimes don’t get taken seriously, so I work just as hard on myself and my business ethic.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Luxury Beauty supply owner. I carry your favorite known Luxury beauty product brands, from hair care to skincare to shoes and accessories. I have a suite in lake Elmo Minnesota where customers can pick up their orders and purchase more if they’d like. We are also online and ship within us. I am a model; I model swimsuits and lingerie but recently tapped into different modeling aspects. I started modeling in 2020, which was my first paid gig.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
I use many organizing apps to help me navigate better in life. Self-care also helps me maintain my focus.
