Rising Stars: Meet Thazin Thaung of Saint Paul North End

Today we’d like to introduce you to Thazin Thaung.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Thazin a.k.a T has been a passionate florist for over 20 years, creating floral arrangements that speak the language of beauty and emotion. In 2022, she and her family moved to the United States from Burma (Myanmar) as refugees, bringing with them a deep resilience and a love for creativity. Thazin is the proud mother of an 8-year-old son affectionately known as “Little T,” and wife to Steve, an award-winning documentary filmmaker and photographer. Her journey in the U.S. floral world began under the guidance of Lynne, from whom she learned the art of floral design for more than a year. In April 2025, Thazin took the next big step—she purchased the beloved Your Enchanted Florist from Lynne and is now the new owner and lead floral artist. T brings her unique artistic vision and heartfelt dedication to every bouquet she creates, continuing the shop’s legacy while weaving in her own story of hope and renewal.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been an easy journey as a first-generation immigrant. Just three years after resettling in the United States, Thazin took a bold step by starting her own business. Despite facing language barriers and the challenge of finding acceptance within the community—particularly in an industry largely dominated by white-owned flower shops—she persevered with determination and grace.

Thazin quickly learned how to meet customer expectations and has since earned numerous compliments and heartfelt appreciation for her work. Though her English is not yet perfect, she bridges communication gaps with her warm smile and expressive gestures, creating genuine connections with her customers. Her remarkable ability to craft stunning floral arrangements within minutes has become her signature strength—helping her overcome language barriers and win the trust and admiration of her community.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m the owner and floral designer of Your Enchanted Florist, where I specialize in creating unique, artful arrangements that blend elegance, emotion, and natural beauty. I focus on crafting designs that reflect each customer’s story—whether it’s for weddings, celebrations, or everyday moments of love and care.

What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come as a first-generation immigrant who started this business just a few years after resettling in the United States. Despite language and cultural barriers, I’ve built strong relationships with my customers through kindness, creativity, and dedication to quality.

What sets me apart is my intuitive design style and speed—I can visualize and create beautiful arrangements in just minutes. My customers often say they can feel the heart and emotion behind each piece I make. Every bouquet is a reflection of passion, resilience, and a deep love for bringing joy to others through flowers.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I’m lucky enough to have learned from one of the best floral designers in town, Lynne Tischler. She taught me not only the art of floral design but also how to run a business with passion and professionalism.

My advice for finding a mentor is to stay humble, curious, and open-hearted. Learn as much as you can, from as many people as you can, and never stop asking questions. Every experience and every person you meet has something valuable to teach you. I truly believe that growth comes from being willing to learn every single day.
