We’re looking forward to introducing you to Dr. Tyronne E. Carter. Check out our conversation below.
Tyronne E., a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I recently wrote the music and sang on a Christmas song entitled, “Is It Still Christmas for the Lonely?”
To encourage people to call someone you know who might be alone during Christmas. It is currently posted on “YouTube.”
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
America’s Fun Science, a Minnetonka-based company I founded in 2015, provides fun, hands-on science and STEM/STEAM programming for Pre-K through 8th grade in the Twin Cities area and beyond.
It consists of thirty different hands-on STEM programs as well as an interaction Stage presentation. We also have two STEM books containing lesson plans that are carried in Twin Cities Libraries.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
When I first started reading biographies and autobiographies about great people.
I wanted to know what separated a great person from and ordinary person.
Their have been may people who have been born who were highly intelligent or very talented but did not achieve great things.
I started reading a book a night at the age of 4 1/2 in order to find my answer. When I reached the age of 19 I found my answer.
The answer is “vision”. Once you have the vision for what you want to accomplish and you believe in yourself you and research the steps you need to take or find a mentor to guide you to success. Without vision nothing starts.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, I was a high school dropout and I needed 1 credit to get my high School diploma. I took the GED test and set a scoring record for the test center because I was so well read.
I then took the SAT and won a State Scholarship and admission to Morehouse College the same college my hero DR. Martin Luther King Jr. Graduated from.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
His quote:
” I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character”.
He focused on the importance of character and thus became a role model for me.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I gave 110% in everything that I did.
That I cared for others and revealed things about myself that others would have hid.
That I took the time to say thank you to people no matter what their station in life.
That I was a ‘Servant Leader” who always lead with kindness in the midst of stress and strife!
