Hi John, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
For me, integrity is important.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Educator and Model
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
God. You know in the Bible, Jeremiah 1:5 it says “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you…”. It took me quite some time to fully grasp that and embed that into my spirit. To give some context, in June 2024, I realized that I cannot be who I am called to be in the earth unless I believe what God believes about me. I cannot do it in my own power, it’s going to take the spirit of God.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely. To add to my recent answer, over the years and especially at that time, I began to question my purpose and calling in the world. But I had to understand that God will never ask me to do something that He has not already given me the ability to partner with Him and bring forth. Even I questioned and wondered how God would pull it out of me. But He wouldn’t ask me to do it if He didn’t already put it inside of me. I serve a God who knows what He put inside of me. He didn’t ask me to be an athlete, He didn’t ask me to be a swimmer, He didn’t ask me to do some things, but one thing He asked me, was to be an Educator in this world. In times of questioning and wanting to give up, I often times said to God, I don’t know how I’m going to do it I don’t have what it takes, I don’t know if I’m qualified enough, if I’m eloquent enough, and all while I was talking, God was just nodding His head, cause He said I know what I put inside you, and if you get YOU out of the way, then my Glory can come up out of you. If you get YOU out of the way, then my power can flow through you. After that, I reminded myself every day since then and to this very day that I believe that God believes about me and that this journey with Him is not easy or for the faint at heart, but with God it’s all worthwhile and end of it all, that He will always get all the Glory.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
I believe that in all things that I do, I always give my full best, and I don’t do any of it for ay type of praise, acknowledgements, recognition, or anything of that nature. As long as God gets the glory, honor and praise for what He called me to do and that I have been obedient to Him – that is what matters. Over the years I have come to realize, learn and honestly, accept, that all the other stuff outside of God’s approval, is not and should not be an idol.
