Today we’d like to introduce you to Abigail Asare.
Hi Abigail, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey into the world of beauty and makeup began in 2018 when I joined Lancôme. It was a pivotal moment for me, marking the start of my professional career in an industry I had always been passionate about. Working with Lancôme, I gained invaluable experience and insights into the art and science of makeup, which laid a solid foundation for my skills. As I honed my craft, I strongly desired to explore more personalized and creative aspects of makeup artistry. This led me to venture into freelancing, where I found my true calling. Freelancing allowed me to express my artistic vision more freely and to work closely with clients, understanding their needs and desires on a deeper level. I’m proud of the journey I’ve embarked on. The experiences I’ve gained, the people I’ve met, and the beauty I’ve helped unveil have all shaped me into the artist I am today. I’m excited about what the future holds and look forward to continuing to enhance the natural beauty of all my clients.
Let’s dig deeper into the story – has it been an easy path, and if not, what challenges have you overcome?
While my journey in the beauty industry has been enriching, it hasn’t been without its challenges. Transitioning from a structured environment at Lancôme to the unpredictable world of freelancing presented its initial hurdles. Building a client base from scratch required not just makeup skills but also marketing savvy and networking—a whole new skill set I had to develop on the fly. One of the significant struggles was establishing trust with clients who were used to seeing work from established makeup artists with years of experience. Convincing them to take a chance on someone relatively new to the freelance scene required a lot of patience, perseverance, and proof of my capabilities. Teaching others about makeup was also a challenge that turned into a passion. Initially, breaking down complex techniques into teachable moments was daunting. However, it eventually became one of the most rewarding aspects of my career, allowing me to connect with others on a deeper level and see their confidence grow alongside their skills. Despite these challenges, each struggle has been a learning opportunity, pushing me to grow as a makeup artist, entrepreneur, and educator. They’ve taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of staying true to my vision, all of which have been instrumental in getting me to where I am today.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might need to become more familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Over the past six years, I have dedicated myself to mastering the art of creating seamless, skin-focused makeup looks. My approach is about enhancing the skin’s natural beauty, ensuring each client looks their best, whether stepping in front of a camera or walking down the aisle on their special day. Beyond my work with clients, I’ve discovered a passion for education. Teaching women how to independently achieve their desired makeup looks has been incredibly rewarding. It’s not just about the techniques but empowering them to feel confident and beautiful in their skin. The culmination of my experience and passion has birthed something extraordinary — Sip N’ Paint, a hands-on makeup course. This unique concept combines the joy of learning makeup in a relaxed, friendly setting with indulging in drinks. It reflects my belief that learning can be both enriching and fun. What sets Sip N’ Paint apart, and what I’m most proud of in my career, is its ability to transform the art of makeup into an inclusive, empowering, and joy-filled event. It’s where education meets celebration and where each participant can discover the beauty in learning makeup as a form of personal expression and self-care.
What are your plans for the future?
I am most excited about creating spaces where beauty is celebrated in all forms, learning is a shared joy, and everyone can find the tools and confidence to express their unique self. The future is bright, and I can’t wait to explore these new horizons with my community.
