Check Out Allison Fleming’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Fleming.

Hi Allison, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and from an early age, I was fortunate to be surrounded by strong role models. My mom has always been a pillar of kindness, patience, and support, while my dad exemplified hard work and dedication—especially through his involvement in our sports lives. As a family of soccer players, he coached me for many years, and those shared experiences not only deepened my love for the game but also sparked my early curiosity about the human body and injury recovery.
I completed my undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at the University of Alberta, majoring in Physical Activity and Health. Initially, I planned to pursue a career in physical therapy. However, a transformative experience with a particular chiropractor shifted my perspective. Unlike the quick in-and-out adjustments I was used to, this chiropractor integrated a holistic approach—combining dry needling, active release therapy, movement rehab, and nutritional advice. It completely reframed my understanding of what chiropractic care could be, and from that moment on, I knew this was the path I wanted to follow.
Throughout my undergrad, I worked as a student kinesiologist at several chiropractic clinics, gaining hands-on experience that confirmed my passion for this field. After graduating from chiropractic school in October 2024, I made the bold decision to stay in the United States instead of returning home, ultimately relocating to a new state where I knew no one. It was one of the most challenging—and rewarding—decisions I’ve made.
Today, I’m practicing as an associate chiropractor at MN Spine and Sport, where I focus heavily on evidence-based care. I utilize shockwave therapy and rehabilitative exercises extensively in my treatment plans, and I’ve seen significant improvements in patient outcomes as a result. More than just the clinical side, though, I genuinely care about people. My work is deeply rooted in a desire to help others feel better, live better, and thrive—something inspired in part by my admiration for Mother Teresa’s words: “Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier.”
I’m driven by a constant desire to grow and be the best version of myself. I try to live by the values of integrity, kindness, and hard work—values instilled in me by my parents and reinforced through my personal and professional experiences. If I could give advice to my younger self, it would be this: You can do it. Don’t place limits on what you think is possible. In just my first year of practice, I’ve already exceeded every expectation I had for myself, and I’m excited to see where this journey leads next.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but I’ve come to see that the challenges have played a huge role in shaping my growth—both personally and professionally.
One of the biggest obstacles was deciding to move to a completely different country after graduating from undergraduate school. After completing chiropractic school, I had originally planned to return home to Canada, but I made the decision to stay in the U.S. and start my career here. That leap of faith came with a lot of uncertainty—navigating immigration processes, and adjusting to a new healthcare system and professional environment, all whilst knowing only a couple people. It pushed me far outside my comfort zone.
Another challenge was simply entering the profession as a new grad. There’s a steep learning curve in translating everything you learned in school into real-world practice, especially when you’re aiming to provide high-quality, patient-centered care. I had to quickly learn how to build trust with patients, manage a full schedule, and navigate the business side of healthcare—all while continuing to grow my clinical skills.
But every challenge has been a stepping stone. I’ve grown more confident, more resilient, and more grounded in my purpose through each one.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a chiropractor currently practicing at MN Spine and Sport, where I work with a wide range of patients—from kids as young as eight to older adults in their 80s. My patient base includes athletes, weekend warriors, those dealing with chronic pain, and individuals recovering from car accidents. Regardless of their background, my approach is always patient-centered and rooted in their goals—whether that’s returning to the soccer field, being able to play with their grandchildren, or simply waking up pain-free.
Clinically, I specialize in evidence-informed, results-driven care. I use a combination of chiropractic adjustments, rehabilitative exercise, and one of the most impactful tools in my toolbox: shockwave therapy. With over 10,000 published research articles supporting its effectiveness, shockwave has transformed my practice and significantly improved patient outcomes—particularly in treating conditions like rotator cuff tendinopathies, headaches, and low back pain. Patients not only get better, but they get better faster.
What sets my care apart is the holistic, biopsychosocial approach I bring into every session. I take the time to truly listen—to understand the full picture, from physical symptoms to lifestyle and emotional stressors. Building trust and rapport is central to what I do, and I’m often told by patients that they feel seen, heard, and cared for—never rushed. I’m proud to say that many describe me as kind, upbeat, and compassionate, and that they trust me to help them get to the root of their problem—not just mask the symptoms.
Our clinic philosophy is all about creating an experience—we aim to be the “Disneyland of chiropractic.” From start to finish, we want patients to feel welcomed, supported, and empowered. One of the most meaningful moments in my career so far was helping a patient who had suffered from severe migraines for years. She came to me in tears on her first visit, desperate for relief after trying every possible treatment. After just a few sessions, she returned with tears again—this time because she finally felt hope and relief she never thought possible.
What I’m most proud of is my grit, my desire to keep learning, and my ability to genuinely connect with people. I believe healing is not just about technique, but about trust, compassion, and shared goals. That’s what makes this work so fulfilling—and why I’m excited for what’s still to come.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5 to 10 years, I think the chiropractic profession will continue moving toward a more integrated, collaborative model of care. There’s a growing recognition that patients benefit most when their providers—whether it’s chiropractors, physical therapists, medical doctors, or mental health professionals—are working together toward shared goals. I’m hopeful that we’ll see even more cross-referrals, co-management, and team-based care, especially for complex or chronic cases.
Technology is also playing a bigger role. Modalities like shockwave therapy—supported by a growing body of research—are changing the game in terms of how quickly we can get patients out of pain and back to doing what they love. I think we’ll continue to see growth in this area, alongside increased use of rehab, movement assessments, and patient education.
What excites me most is the expanding role of chiropractors as whole-person providers—people who can address not just joint and muscle pain, but also help patients navigate lifestyle, stress, movement, and recovery. I think the future of our field is more connected, more collaborative, and more impactful than ever before.
