Check Out Amber Olsen’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Olsen.

Hi Amber, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My wedding officiating journey began in the back room of a Mexican restaurant, where I officiated my first wedding ceremony in 2016. It was an emotional event for me, as I got to see a couple’s love celebrated with their friends and family with a ceremony that I created, as I told their love story.

My love of weddings began as a child, where I fell in love with the idea of love. As a self-declared Disney princess, my Barbies had weddings every other day, as I thought of creative ways to marry them. That childhood dream of taking part in one of a couple’s happiest days was what, eventually, became my dream career….meeting unique couples, learning about their love story, and putting those special moments and memories into a ceremony script that is shared with their friends and family on their wedding day.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve learned a lot as a business owner, and as a professional in the wedding industry, over the past 10 years of professionally officiating weddings. I’ve created behind-the-scenes processes that have made my life easier, and use tools that make the booking and paying side easier for the clients as well.

In 2020, my family packed up and moved from California (where I began my business back in 2016) to North Dakota, where I had to start over from scratch by advertising and building a professional base from which to begin my business all over again. It’s been a successful venture for me, and I have the opportunity to work with amazing vendors in my community, whom I call “friend-dors.”

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am proud of how successful the Officiant Amber brand has become. I believe its success is due to open and clear communication with couples, maintaining great relationships with wedding vendors in the area, and striving to make each couple feel like the most important couple, each and every time.

I specialize in custom-written wedding ceremonies, that tell a couple’s journey, to include topics like, how they met, fell in love, and what they envision for their future. We talk about fun unity rituals or readings to further personalize their ceremony, in order to create a personable, unique, engaging ceremony that tells each couple’s unique love story in a fun way.

Back in 2020, American Marriage Ministries picked up, and re-published my book, “Navigating Your Wedding Ceremony,” which was very exciting for me. In addition, I have created a North Dakota and Minnesota Name Change Packet, to make the name change process a piece of cake for couples after the ceremony. In addition, I offer pre-marital coaching for couples that want to dive into their relationship on a deeper level before marriage.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Each and every wedding is another opportunity for me to connect with members of the community in an amazing, fun, meaningful way. I love being able to use my Journalistic background as a TV news reporter and radio DJ to create a memorable wedding ceremony for each and every couple to share with their closest friends and family.
