Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Mari.
Ashley, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hi!
I’m Ashley Mari, a hair stylist based in Minneapolis. I’ve always had a passion and skill for braiding hair. I knew I wanted to pursue a career in the hair industry, and I am always looking for ways to elevate my passion.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My path has not always been easy but I make sure to elevate myself and keep my head up. From starting a small business in my apartment, to traveling thru some states and ending back in Mpls, I have learned a lot. I recently said that I was “retired” but I realized hair has always been apart of me and I hope to continue this journey.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a self taught hair stylist, specializing in braids, twists and locs. Formally known as Trippy Stylez; I’ve created a brand that grew into more than just hair. I curated two FWMN events, and worked with many other creatives within the industry. I’m proud of the risks that I’ve taken and grown through. My style is original and always changing, I love setting a tone.
How do you think about happiness?
Showing up as authentic to myself as I can be, makes me happy. Not having to pretend to be someone in order to be valued or respected; as well as seeing other people shine as their true selves. Being creative and free in my choices makes me happy 🙂
