Today we’d like to introduce you to Becky Vang.
Hi Becky, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Growing up, my family has always been a go-getter. My parents taught my four siblings and I that “If you can put your mind on it, run with it until you achieve it.” I have always had an interest in beauty and was always ready for whatever I came upon by having my strip lashes on and brows filled in just so I’m never caught off guard. That is when it intrigued me to learn more about eyelash extensions and permanent makeup. Knowing how many people can benefit from saving so much time getting ready in the morning when they do not have to worry about filling in their brows to make sure it’s even and symmetrical or applying strip lashes that don’t irritate the eyes, this is why I want to give women the confidence to wake up and go!
Not only do I have a passion for beauty, but I also have a love for art and self-expressing through body tattoos. Body art is my way of expressing, and wearing my heart on my sleeve. Being able to help clients bring their vision to life is truly a rewarding feeling.
I knew I wanted to pursue my passion in the beauty industry but I also knew it wasn’t going to be easy. Being a single mother and having the support of my family in helping babysit my son so I can pursue my passion makes Beastie.BeautieBar possible. My friends and clients allowing me to work on them, liking my posts and work, and even sharing my work have helped promote me to the world. Lastly, I can not forget about my ladies at The Brow Bar studio. These ladies inspire me and teach me the ends and out of being in this industry. I cannot thank them enough.
Without any of these people, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I am nowhere near my goal of success but I am a step closer than I was before and am going to keep running with it until I achieve it.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It is definitely not a smooth road! I wish I could say it was, but I did not have a mentor for when I started eyelash extensions, so I struggled a lot with finding the right products that work and knowing what techniques to do. As well as seeking the next steps to take to become licensed in the state of Minnesota. I heavily struggled with finding clients and getting myself out there to be noticed. Eventually, I started doing my own research and learning of what works and what does not.
About two years after, I expanded my services and began my permanent makeup and body tattoo path. I was so grateful for the artist that I chose to learn from. She became my mentor and greatest friend. The struggle had lessen up by this time because I already had lash clients and a good amount of follow base who then became brow and tattoo clients.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an eyelash technician, permanent brow makeup artist, as well as a body tattoo artist who specializes in helping women feel confident and express themselves through body art. Some of the things I’m known for is being able to give clients a lash set that suits their eyes and creating custom tattoos that brings out their vision. Seeing my work on others is what I am most proud of. I’ve been told by many of my clients, “I love that you know how to work with my appearance.” or “I can’t believe you’re able to turn my ideas into that!” So, I guess what sets me apart from others is, knowing my clients and being able to bring their thoughts into reality.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey is to invest in yourself. Always practicing and learning will help improve your craft. Take courses to refresh your memory and help you learn something you may not have known before. Your skills will always be improving and you will thank yourself for always seeking knowledge.
