Check Out Catrina Letourneau’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Catrina Letourneau.

Hi Catrina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Catrina but I go by Cat. I’m located in Mpls where I make unique Handmade Skincare Products right from home.

I started Pillars of Throw in March 2019 when after cleaning our home in Minneapolis, we burned our last candle. I thought out loud maybe I should make candles myself, my spouse challenged me to do so, and the rest is history.

I would go on to study cold process soap making and become a member of the Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetic Guild, from there I got the courage and knowledge to create my own recipes and expand my skills in different areas of skincare.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some of my hurdles include trying to hold all the cards. You need to ask for help, delegate some of your tasks, and try not to be all things involved with running and growing your business.

If you can find help with a task one person can always do, like clean vessels or affix labels onto them, but also trust your team to do so, each day will open more opportunities for your attention elsewhere to better your company.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Here at Pillars of Throw, we put a lot of thought and care into our unique skincare products to enrich your lifestyle.

As a Healthcare professional, I understand the importance of great skincare. We incorporate natural ingredients in each candle, a bar of soap & bath bombs made by hand with patience, care, and love. We hope you enjoy our skincare products as much as we do.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Our city is growing fast, and we need more handmade brick-and-mortar stores run by locals in the area.

I’m witness to the conversations of the support that would be given if more local businesses could open a storefront. I love the overwhelming support given to me by my community and peers.
