Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtland Marie.
Hi Courtland, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started modeling around 16 years old going off a whim of spontaneity. I had a dance teacher growing up, Tracy Rostamo, that modeled who really encouraged and inspired me to try modeling too. Throughout the next 2 years, I was doing collaborations and worked for some of the creators I admired most in Minnesota. At 18, I was signed by an agency and decided to move to Los Angeles after graduating. While there I worked some amazing jobs and met even more amazing people on the journey. After a few years there, I was homesick. I decided to move back to Minnesota to lock in with my roots. While back, I’ve continued modeling as well as having an herbal care business in the works. My goal is to provide organic and ethically sourced body/skincare to every age.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve had struggles mentally regarding confidence in my work and in myself, but I have an amazing support system that is always lifting my spirits and reassuring me
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Aside from modeling, I have a huge passion for holistic healing. I’ll never claim to be an expert (there’s always more to learn), but I devote a lot of time to studying and creating natural products that both my customers and I really enjoy. As a model, self-maintenance is huge. Clean, moisturized skin and lips is a must. My goal is to cater to everyone that is searching for a nice, natural way to achieve that.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Maintaining your relationships and social presence is crucial to keep an eye on your business or brand. Patience with both yourself and the pandemic effects is necessary for sure too. It takes stepping out of your comfort zone and reaching out to people and businesses. It can be intimidating stepping into any new situation, but with practice, it can become easier and more comfortable.
