Check Out Daniel LaFond’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel LaFond.

Hi Daniel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Born in South St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1963, I grew up with a deep love for the performing arts. As a child, I was drawn to music and theater—dreaming of a life on stage. But like many dreamers, I was met with the wise, steady guidance of my parents, who encouraged me to pursue practical skills as a foundation. I listened, enrolling in culinary school, and it was there that I found My true creative outlet—not under stage lights, but over stovetops and banquet tables. The artistry of cooking, the elegance of presentation, and the rhythm of a well-executed service sparked a passion that would define my early professional life.

My career took me through every corner of the food and hospitality industry—cooking, catering, logistics, distribution, and eventually, large-scale event planning. It was in the events world where I truly found my stride. Merging creativity, organization, and showmanship, I became known for delivering exceptional experiences. I honed my craft through memberships with industry-leading associations like Meeting Professionals International (MPI) and the International Live Events Association (ILEA), even contributing articles to Meeting Professionals Magazine. My business, Special Events Midwest, served as a hub of innovation and excellence in event planning and catering until the economic downturn of 2008 took its toll. Today, living in Crystal, MN, I reflect on a dynamic career that’s blended artistry with strategy—always rooted in a love for storytelling, whether through a performance, a plate, or a perfectly planned event.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I hit rock bottom during the economic downturn of 2008. I lost everything: my wife, my business, my house and my car. You’d think it would’ve felt like a country song—except I did come away with a dog, so it wasn’t quite that bleak. That little furball became my anchor, reminding me daily that even in loss, life goes on—and sometimes, gives you unexpected companions.

With the world turned upside down, I knew I had to start over. I found my way into the transportation industry, becoming a safety instructor—a role that let me combine teaching with responsibility and structure. But the real pivot came when I discovered driving for Uber and Lyft. Becoming my own boss offered me independence and the flexibility to care for family members with health concerns. It was hard work, but it also gave me purpose again while enabling me to build a thriving, manageable routine.

Then, thanks to a chance conversation with my old friend Ryan—who owns All In Casino Party—I got pulled back toward events. Ryan’s business brings that genuine Vegas-style excitement to corporate and private gatherings: blackjack, poker, and more, right here in the Twin Cities.

Hearing him talk about gleaming casino tables, professional dealers, and how they “bring the fun” reignited something in me. It was the culmination of all I’d done—from theater dreams to culinary artistry, from running Special Events Midwest to navigating life’s setbacks. And this time, it was different: I was taking steps to create fun and exciting events again, joining the team that brought joy and connection back into my life.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What I bring to All In Casino Party is that creative spark that’s been with me since childhood—whether it was through music, theater, or the fine presentation of food. Creativity is the common thread that’s run through every chapter of my life, and now I channel that into creating unforgettable entertainment experiences.

At All In Casino Party, I specialize in turning events into immersive, high-energy environments that people talk about long after the last hand is dealt. From themed decor setups to smooth guest interaction, I’m known for my attention to detail, my passion for presentation, and my ability to read a room and bring the energy up or down depending on the moment. I’m the guy who makes sure your Vegas-style event doesn’t just feel real—it feels extraordinary.

What sets us apart is the authenticity of our experience. We don’t just show up with tables and chips—we bring professional-grade casino equipment, highly trained and engaging dealers, and a team that genuinely loves seeing guests light up. We’re not just offering games; we’re delivering a show, a vibe, and a memory.

What I’m most proud of is the way we’re able to create joy. In a world that often feels heavy, being part of a business that delivers laughter, excitement, and connection—whether for a corporate function or a birthday bash—is more than just work. It’s a fulfilling career. Every time a guest says, “This was the best party I’ve ever been to,” I know I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
If there’s one thing this journey has taught me—through the highs of building a business and the lows of losing almost everything—it’s that connection is everything. Whether it’s a client, a coworker, or a stranger stepping up to a poker table, people remember how you made them feel. The foundation of every great event, every successful interaction, is authentic connection.

I’ve also learned the power of communication—clear, honest, and human. It’s not about saying the right thing; it’s about showing up as yourself. That’s something I carry into every event I help create. It’s not just about fun and games (though we have plenty of those). It’s about giving people a moment where they feel seen, valued, and completely immersed in the experience.

Above all, I’ve learned to lead with integrity. Whatever I do, I want it to reflect who I truly am. I believe in being a positive force in the world—bringing energy, creativity, and kindness wherever I go. That, more than anything, is what makes this career meaningful. When I walk away from an event knowing we delivered something unforgettable—and did it with authenticity and heart—that’s the greatest reward of all.
