Check Out Erica V. Walton’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica V. Walton.

Hi Erica, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In 2011, I felt compelled to do more for my community. In a way, I wanted to be a part of the solution instead of a part of the problem. I read a quote that stated, “Be who you needed as a child”. As a child, I became a ward of a state at six years old. I remember in my youth yearning for advocacy and the presence of love. I created a Nonprofit organization for girls ages 7-17. We hosted summer camps, brunches and various programs based on self-esteem. On my journey I allowed myself to evolve and as I did so did the business. I’ve since dissolved the nonprofit organization. I used the tools I’ve learned while in therapy and mental healing, for wellness-based women’s events. Still being who I needed at some point in my life for others.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A lot of times there are financial challenges from funding availability to actual community support. You have an idea, launch and believe it’ll take off. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. It’s long hours, sacrifices and many No’s before something pays off. There’s also the necessary balance needed for business and private affairs. Scheduling work hours, mommy hours, wife hours and personal hours is rough.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an author of thirteen books. They’re all wellness and self help based. From those books I host monthly self care groups, quarterly retreats and monthly events. There are lots of meditation, grounding, fun and hard questions during these meet ups. I’m also a firm believer in speaking things into existence. I have created six affirmation card decks apparel based on affirmations. They’re for money, self-esteem, anxiety, and body positivity. I love that people know they’re meeting the real version of me and not a social media created personality. I’m most proud of my authenticity and ability to be a safe space for women.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My grandmother, husband, children and every woman that has invested their time and money into my business have been positive motivational forces in my business. I’m so grateful for them. As well as every author I’ve gained some insight from. From Deepak Chopra to Michelle “Honey” Thomas.
