Today we’d like to introduce you to Harbor View Sanctuary Joel And Ashley.
Hi Harbor View Sanctuary, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Joel and Ashley decided to start working for themselves. Ashley had stayed at the previous Gardenwood Resort and Motel with her children. They had previously looked at a bar and restaurant near some water but when what they had initially sought after sold. They started looking at Gardenwood. Since Ashley had stayed there and had memories of the place and Joel and her both loved the North Shore and only lived 6 minutes away. They thought it was perfect! So, the offer was made and here we are!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We wouldn’t say it was a rough or smooth road. A lot of ebbs and flows. Every day there could be something that comes up and other days it could run so smoothly, it almost worries us…ha ha! But are definitely happy when it is more smooth. We both work very well together. Joel more on the money, logistics, maintenance side and Ashley more on the organization, creative, cleaning side. But both are very social and go- gatters and that helps!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Joel and Ashley have always been hard working. Joel started his first lawn care service when he was 12 years. Ashley had a newspaper route. Joel and Ashley worked many other jobs throughout their life but always had one. Ashley worked as a visual merchandiser for Hom Furniture before becoming a stay at home mom of 3 boys. And Joel bought rental properties. We have work ethic and know the only ones who can screw this up is us, and that will never happen. We will be one step ahead always.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risk is opportunity. It is like being afraid but doing it anyway. Without risk there is no gain or reward. Risk is something you need to have in order to succeed. Learn to control without control and rise instead of react.
