Check Out Jade Becker’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Becker.

Hi Jade, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was working at another tax firm in town and I noticed a gap in the market for everyday people trying to find real personalized tax help for their specific situations. The big accounting firms usually want to work with higher net worth folks and the name-brand chain tax companies tend to have under-trained staff. That’s where my business idea began.

I joke that I am a “social” accountant. I like working with everyday people and I explain things in a way that is easy to understand. I build long term relationships with my clients and many clients turn into friends over time.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have been super lucky in my journey as an entrepreneur thus far. I spent 5+ years preparing before I launched, and there has been a steady flow of demand since launch. I just switched over to a waiting list for new clients, as I want to grow slowly and keep my quality of service really great.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
While I do taxes for all types of people in MN, my favorite areas to specialize are:

Self-employed creatives
People a few years behind on filing taxes
Families with young kids

My process involves the client uploading their forms to an online portal and then the real magic happens at the tax appointment. The tax appointment is sort of like a live working session. I do roughly 80% of the tax return live on the call with the client. We bounce things off of one another, I do some teaching, suggest things that could be done better in the future, ect. By chatting and learning about their lives, we find deductions that other accountants might not even know about. I want every client to feel 100% confident they understand what their tax return actually says before they sign.

What’s next?
My process is completely virtual right now, but I am considering adding a physical location soon because I miss people.

Pricing:
