Today we’d like to introduce you to Jake Dixon.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started out playing drums and being in bands growing up. A cousin showed me what graphic design was at a young age and designed the first logo for the first band I was in. Seeing that process sparked something for me, and I quickly became interested in learning how to do it myself. Not long after, I started creating logos, album artwork, merch, and posters for the other bands I was a part of.

For a long time, that work lived alongside other jobs, but I always had a long-term vision in mind. I wanted to build something of my own and create work that felt thoughtful and lasting. Over time, those early band projects turned into opportunities to work with small businesses and brands with real needs and real stakes.

Today, I run Jake Dixon Creative, where I develop full brand systems, capture photography, and build websites for Midwest brands. While the scope of the work has grown, the core approach has stayed the same. I focus on craftsmanship and building things that hold up over time, not just what looks good in the moment.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. Early on, one of the biggest challenges was balancing creative work alongside other jobs while trying to build something sustainable. Progress was often slow and didn’t always feel visible.

As the work grew, learning when to say no became just as important as saying yes. Getting clear on the kind of projects I wanted to take on meant turning down work that didn’t align, even when consistency felt uncertain. Losing a traditional 9–5 role was another turning point that forced me to fully commit to the long-term vision I had been building toward. Those challenges shaped how I work today and reinforced my focus on craftsmanship and building things that last.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I run Jake Dixon Creative, where I focus on brand identity, photography, and web design for Midwest-based brands. I specialize in building full brand systems, not just logos, and helping businesses show up consistently across everything they put into the world. That often includes visual identity, packaging, product and lifestyle photography, and custom websites.

What I’m most proud of is the trust my clients place in me to help shape how their brand is seen and experienced. A lot of my work is with small, hardworking businesses, breweries, and makers who care deeply about quality but need clarity and cohesion. Seeing those brands grow and knowing the work holds up years later matters more to me than quick trends or flashy launches.

What sets me apart is my focus on craftsmanship and longevity. I take a hands-on, collaborative approach and think through how a brand actually gets used in the real world. The goal is always to build something honest, durable, and unmistakably theirs.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I’d encourage people to stay patient with the process. A lot of meaningful creative work happens quietly, long before it looks finished or successful from the outside. Building something you’re proud of takes consistency, curiosity, and a willingness to keep showing up and refining the details. For me, the goal has always been to build things with care and intention and trust that good work, done well, will open the right doors.
