Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Weekley
Hi Jamie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m Jamie & Captured Blossoms is my floral design/film photography hybrid. “Captured” for the film photography and “Blossoms” for the floral design! A business built out of passion and wanting to create my own path using my creativity and hard work ethic together. I work full time in marketing consulting & have a passion for creative people doing cool things. I design florals with intention and personalize each arrangement based on the person receiving it & the context of the occasion. I approach film photography with a documentary style, and prioritize the “in-between moments” of your event or session. I aim to capture your personal essence in ways that you can’t perceive on your own. Captured Blossoms is a combination of services & vibes. Offering floral design for parties, photoshoots, weddings, elopements, and everyday bouquets. Film photography for parties, weddings, elopements, life events, styled shoots and the everyday. CB’s vibes are authentic, whimsical, nostalgic, creative, organic & vintage. CB can bring an ambiance and comfort to any space.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It never is, but that’s what makes it exciting and fun! It has been a challenge to balance starting a business with working a career and planning a wedding. I LLC’d in September of 2023 and I still don’t have it all figured out, and I choose to embrace that! I have had to work on my prioritization, boundaries & overall patience but I am better for it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I provide floral design for a variety of events, occasions and “just because”. I have experience in wedding floral design, dinner parties, bespoke bouquets, styled photoshoots, installation floral designs, elopement bouquets etc. I also provide film photography for weddings, major life events (rehearsal dinners, birthday parties, bachelorette parties, bridal showers and beyond), life milestones (pregnancy, maternity, birthdays etc), and styled/branding shoots. You name it, I’ll probably agree to capture it.
I approach each project fully personalized to the person, context and occasion. Every floral color scheme or frame in a film roll is thoughtfully considered and bespoke to the person. I am known for whimsical yet intentional floral designs and “in the moment” photos on 35mm film.
I love connecting with nature in a world that is SO digital. With my full time job being on a computer, playing with flowers is my version of touching grass. Seeing the look on someone’s face when they see their floral design for the first time will never get old! I love the collaboration element as well, meeting new people that are passionate about the same things as me is SO fun. I love brainstorming creative ideas with other fun and creative people just as much as I love the end product. The feeling of placing that ONE ‘money piece’ stem in an arrangement that takes it to the next level is unmatched.
What were you like growing up?
I was outgoing – a chatterbox! I loved animals, loved to play with my friends, danced whenever I could, and loved gardening with my mom.
