Today we’d like to introduce you to Janise Johnson.
Hi Janise, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Bodyology was born from one of the most challenging seasons of my life. After the birth of my second child in 2020, I experienced postpartum depression following a difficult pregnancy that left me nearly 100 pounds heavier. I lost over 80 pounds by changing my eating habits and committing to movement, but I was left with loose skin that affected my confidence. While surgery wasn’t the right choice for me, discovering non-surgical body contouring completely changed how I felt about myself. The transformation inspired me to become certified so I could help others experience that same renewed confidence.
What began as a body sculpting business has grown into a holistic wellness brand focused on helping people feel stronger, healthier, and more confident. Today, Bodyology offers non-invasive body contouring, personal training, EMS therapy, teeth whitening, and wellness coaching with an emphasis on preventative health and sustainable lifestyle changes. My mission is to create a welcoming space where people from all walks of life can invest in themselves, rebuild confidence, and discover that true transformation is about more than appearance—it’s about reclaiming your health, your confidence, and your quality of life
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest challenges has been growing a business in a highly competitive wellness industry while building trust and educating clients about the benefits of non-invasive services. Like many small business owners, I’ve had to balance marketing, operations, finances, and client care while continuously investing in new certifications, technology, and professional development. As Bodyology has grown, I’ve also worked to evolve the business beyond body sculpting into a holistic wellness brand that focuses on prevention, confidence, and sustainable health. Each challenge has strengthened my resilience and reinforced my commitment to creating a business that delivers meaningful results while making a lasting impact in the community.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At Bodyology, we specialize in non-invasive body contouring, personal training, EMS therapy, teeth whitening, and holistic wellness coaching. Our approach goes beyond aesthetics—we focus on helping people build confidence, improve their overall health, and create sustainable lifestyle changes. Every service is personalized because no two wellness journeys are the same. Whether someone is recovering after weight loss, working toward fitness goals, managing chronic pain, or simply investing in self-care, we meet them where they are and provide education and support every step of the way.
What I’m most proud of is creating a business that was inspired by my own transformation and has become a place where others can experience theirs. Bodyology is different because we don’t just treat the outside—we care about the whole person. My own experience with postpartum depression, significant weight loss, and rebuilding my confidence allows me to connect with clients on a deeper level. They know they’re working with someone who understands the emotional side of transformation, not just the physical. That commitment to compassion, education, and lasting results is what continues to set Bodyology apart and why our clients trust us with their wellness journey.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My biggest piece of advice is to start with your “why” and let that guide every decision you make. It’s easy to get caught up in trends or compare yourself to other businesses, but people connect with authenticity more than perfection. Invest in your education, never stop learning, and don’t be afraid to evolve as your business grows. Success doesn’t happen overnight—it comes from consistently showing up, serving people well, and being willing to adapt.
Looking back, I wish I had known that running a successful business is just as much about building systems, marketing, and relationships as it is about providing a great service. You have to be willing to wear many hats in the beginning, ask for help when you need it, and understand that setbacks are part of the process—not signs that you’re failing. Every challenge has taught me something valuable, and those lessons have made both me and Bodyology stronger.
