Check Out Kada Goalen’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kada Goalen.

Hi Kada, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am the founder, lead artist, and head creative at KADA CREATIVE, LTD. I work with clients to create their dream space; blending their vision with my artistic knowledge and experience to bring their vision for their space to life.

Since I was young, I have gravitated to the immersive experience of art. Growing up, I expressed myself through art and was constantly seeking new challenges and mediums. Once I started, I never looked back. In college, I studied fine art at UMass. There I learned the techniques of the old masters, line drawing, perspective, the contrast of colors, how to work with highlights and shadows and so much more. I also studied in Italy, where I learned to see paintings in layers. I was able to build my skill set through practice, travel, and teachings. After college, I began a small side business of painting murals and kid’s rooms. This small business quickly blossomed into a career of working with all types of clients in multiple forms.

This is where I continue my work today. From community leaders who are looking to infuse art into their community, to business owners who want to elevate their branding and business with added creativity through art, to homeowners who desire something truly custom and unique to their taste and home, to interior designers who want a finish or painting customized to fit their client’s home, to the public who want to be engaged through art and community; this is my work. I love bringing the immersive experience of art, color and the creative spirit into new environments and making my client’s dreams for their spaces come true.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As a small business owner and single mom, I definitely initially struggled with finding a work life balance as my business began to grow. Rather than lean into the guilt of not being with my kids and/or not working hard enough on my business, I got to the point where I let go of needing “balance” and focused instead on the quality of engagement while at home or work and my presence in each situation. I’m fortunate to have a great community of support and love for both myself and my kids, when I am working, I know that they are being loved and taken care of; this helps me focus on my art fully. And knowing that when I am not working that I have given it all my presence and focus, helps me to let go of not being there when I am with my kids; which opens the door for me to be totally present with them.

Additionally, as a creative, I did not study business but running my business itself is also a big part of my work. As I became more successful, I was able to build a team of people to support me in managing areas that are not my area of expertise which opened the door to much more time for creativity and the creation of my art. If I could talk to my younger self, I would say to do both of these things sooner; let go of needing to feel balance and focus on presence in all situations, and hire the right people to help you grow your business so you can focus on your craft. Both pay large dividends and are worth the investment.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in bringing my client’s dreams for their space to life. Two of the things that set me apart from others are my ability to really listen and understand what my client’s vision is for their space and my breadth and depth of experience in the field. I have painted on every type of surface and through years of work developed a process that creates beautiful, vibrant and long-lasting art. I love multiple styles of art so I really can hone in on my client’s vision and add this art and experience to make their dream for their space come true. I am known for adding vibrancy and beauty to a space, for my professionalism in getting a project to completion in a timely and detailed manner, and for my ability to engage the stakeholders of a project in a meaningful and collaborative way to bring their vision to life.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I am so grateful that I have realized my dream with my career and I am so thankful for the wonderful people (clients and apprentice artists) I get to work with daily and the art and beauty we bring into the world.
