Check Out Karim Aly’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karim Aly.

Hi Karim, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am an Egyptian/American who was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, I love all sports, Husband to a beautiful wife and father to two wonderful children. Lived on the same block for 33 years, I even bought the house across the street from my Dad’s house, he even bought me my lawnmower and snowblower to do both his yard and driveway. Guess it was a win-win for both of us. Started working for my dad’s taxi company which is where I learned I did not want to have your typical corporate 9-5 style career. A few years after I graduated from the U of M, I got into real estate (Jan. 2017). It was a tough first year, I was new in the business, didn’t have any experience and had no money coming in. I didn’t give up, kept at it and then I finally got my first sale after 6 months from an open house that I hosted. From there I averaged 15-20 closings a year and now I am also an account executive for American Construction as well. I help run the Elite Agency Real Estate Team with Realty Group, LLC. I help coach new agents who just got their real estate license but are just starting out fresh similar to how I started, I try to show them the ropes and guide them to success.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Definitely when I was a rookie was the hardest. You are just starting to brand yourself, and people like to wait to see if you’re going to be successful before using you. I’ve experienced racism from both real estate and roofing sales. I remember this one lady told me she has a co-worker who wanted to sell their house, I told her to give him my info, and when he saw my name he then asked her where is he from with a name like Karim, and she said he is from here but has family from Egypt, then he told her nope I’m good. Things like this happens, but you get used to them. I learned to treat it as if it’s their loss not working with an honest professional such as myself.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a realtor, I utilize many sources such as Follow Up Boss, Trelle, cold calling, and door knocking (both roofing and real estate). I would drive around showing buyers homes, walking through the property and the explain the process thoroughly. I usually don’t use a transaction coordinator because I like to be familiar with the documentations, helps me explain it to my clients correctly and it truly doesn’t take that much time if you’re organized. I also work a lot with listing properties helping sellers get the most value in terms of their house. I am a huge fan of Open Houses. Not only it helps sell the home, it’s a great lead generator for buyers (while at the open house) & Listings when you door knock the neighborhood letting everyone know there is an open house coming up. I think my personality sets me apart from others, clever but not arrogant, solid background in negotiating and communication skills, and extremely respectful and professional.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
“Don’t ever let the obstacles of life hold you down, let the past be a lesson to move forward to the future while the present is a gift.” ~ Karim Aly
