Check Out Kate Bauman’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kate Bauman.

Hi Kate, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
During covid I lost my fiancée. It made me take a hard look at my life and decided to act on things I had not done in my life and how to move forward. I decided to volunteer in Africa. My fiancé was from west Africa and we had a trip planned to go visit them before he passed away. I decided to do the trip alone and meet his family. I volunteered in Kenya, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Ghana. My last stop was with his Family in Burkina Faso. I ended up leaving before I made it to his family because of the covid situation at the time in Africa.

When I was leaving from South Africa to Zimbabwe I met my now business and partner.

We are running cultural and adventure tours now out of Victoria Falls Zimbabwe. Our model is to give people authentic experiences that really get into the heart of the community. The business is based off of my partners deep love for his home and wanting to provide an authentic community driven experience. Travelers stay at our organic farm and volunteer with local schools and hospitals. We encourage them to participate on the farm by harvesting food for meals and learn about local foods and cooking, and traditions of Zimbabwe

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been a path to healing what happened and not always smooth but has helped me heal and find new meaning in my life

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What sets us apart is providing a connected experience to the people who travel with us. We like to call it getting them out of the hotel bubble and bringing them into the community.

We specialize in authentic travel and immerse our clients into the heart of the country and community.

Most proud of helping people step out of their comfort zone and giving people a different view of the world around them. Giving people a different kind of experience that is deeper and more connected

How do you think about luck?
I look at as a little bit of both. Loosing my fiancé so suddenly bad luck, but without that happening g I wouldn’t have ever stepped out of my own comfort zone and travelled to Africa solo. So good luck in that sense because I wouldn’t have met my partner and started this new path
